my buddy and i normally sit in 239 in the corner, (4 seats). to ease the eventual tension of so many drunken sundays away from the family, we told our wives that we are taking them to the opening game! ta da!!

(i even managed to get club seats for this game thru work at a discount so i sold my other seats to a friend)

will this approach make for a better season, esp down the stretch, when we are double tailgating, leaving at 930am getting home at 8pm??

    Seeking advice,
    Fritz

This is a fine and crafty strategy!!!! May I make a suggestion?

Kick it up a notch and include a present to both wives with some flowers tomorrow morning. Make it really memorable! If you are going to devise "get out of trouble" game plan like this, you may as well go the whole hog!
Doing so should eliminate all possible furture complaints about vomit on clothing, lost items on sundays (keys, gloves, etc. including brain cells) and or disheveled appearances at sunday dinner after a 1pm kick off!

I always take my wife to one game a year. In fact it is always the same game each year....... the Dolphins game...............In Miami !:)(without the kids.;)) Actually we make it our one vacation without the kids every year.

    Hey, wait a minute guys!
There are plenty of women, like myself, who never miss a Patriots game with or without our husbands or significant others. We enjoy our tailgating and game time as much as you MEN!

    #17 Jersey

If you get them drunk enough, they just may show their appreciation. Of course nice romantic dinner out and movie might have accomplished the same thing and you wouldn't have had to go to such expense or worst of all ruin a football Sunday buying them drinks and talking about what's on their mind.

    DISCLAIMER:

Not meant to diss any lady Patriot fans in here - you guys rock and are as fanatic and avid as any of us - I am only thinking these wives are only along for the food & drink & "club seat" experience.

Not to generalize too much, but I wonder why Bob Kraft built essentially a mall directly next to a football stadium?!

    The answer is family carpooling.

But seriously, my wife and I both go to games together. She loves the Pats almost as much as I do. We went to the NE/Dallas game on our honeymoon last year (flew in from San Fran). This year, we're going back to San Fran for the one year anniversary...and low and behold, the Pats are playing the 49ers! :singing: We'll be there!

We also go the the NE/NYJ at Foxboro game almost every year, but we get SRO tickets as we aren't made of cash.

Very true. Since I own a season ticket, along with my husband, I don't know how to answer this question, except, "How about taking your wives to every game and making them part of your fan experience?" Though many of you "big" boys may cringe at this suggestion, I say, try it, you'll like it.

    Be careful.
Have you been to a sox game recently?? The pink hats have taken over and its a bit disconcerting as a fan to be sitting behind Muffy and Fluffy doing their nails and talking about.....anything except football. It takes a SPECIAL kind of lady to appreciate football the way some of us FAN(ATICS)do. I think the most important question is who usually takes the other 2 seats? Male bonding rituals are getting fewer and further between, and you might not realize that you go to the games to re-create yourself and for a little away time. Nothing will bring your game day excitement down like knowing you are going to the game with the same person you just had a fight with the night before!
I am being contrarian, but whats the upside? I understand you wanting to show her a good time, so why not do the exact same thing that you usually do without her?? Getting better seats and doing things that much differently can backfire. If you bring her to a cold weather game and make her tailgate and hang with Bubba and Jethro then you can say that is YOUR experience and thats why YOU go. If she likes that GREAT, but to take her to a warm weather powder puff opponent with seats that have catering etc.... she will think that is the experience all the time. She will be looking around for other pretty women(another reason not to do the $$ seats)and figure you will be talking to them when she doesnt go,etc...
Its kind of like you going shopping with her. She wont be the same shopper she is without you(and maybe THIS is the reason for Patriot place??) and will likely look forward to going without you no matter how much you like it. You might be creating a problem by trying to do a wonderful thing. Stick with the flowers, and get her a pink Brady shirt, but changing YOUR fan experience and that of your friends will change the whole dynamic. Good luck.
