Watching the Atlanta game we got to discussing who Brian Hoyer reminds us of. Several QBs names were mentioned, until one Pats fan piped up with a name. Everyone who had seen him play said,
Exactly! He is almost exactly like ___.

Although there were a few who had no opinion since they had not seen the original QB, in their time.

What NFL QB does Brian Hoyer remind you of most? I'll entertain some opinions and then share the mutual settled opinion of all five of us who were discussing it.

Brian Hoyer!

For now I think this but I think he
has a higher ceiling ... who knows right now.

Hint: The guy we agreed on once won the NFL MVP...

Chad Pennington?
Drew Brees? (both small for a QB)

EDIT: not my 2 then

Both UDFAs, he won the NFL MVP, they are the same size (6'2 215 pounds).

IDK my only guess.

Rich Gannon.

Hint: It was surprise to me until I researched his records to find out the guy we settled on, won an NFL MVP...

My name Jose Jimenez.

I was going to say Pennington but much better, and then someone said Gannon.

So, yes, Gannon. But Gannon was really really mobile.

Ken Anderson would be great.

Patriots should hang onto this guy until someone ponies up a #1. He's not going to sit behind Brady for the next 5 years.

We got some interesting selections one that we had not named, anyone of us but who fits, and some that I don't think apply at all.

So I'll give you the collective scouting report we agreed on for Brian Hoyer. And you can assume the similar profile for our choice of who he "exactly resembles".

1) Hoyer is Fair sized but not a Big Guy like Manning or Rothlesburger.

2) Hoyer has a good arm but not a cannon and throws a "catchable" ball.

3) Hoyer has mobility and he can move, but is not particularly known as a running or scrambling QB.

4) Hoyer is more of a "Thinking Man's" QB.

5) Hoyer has a relatively fast release, and an very accurate arm.

6) Hoyer seems "to throw them where they ain't".

7) Hoyer likes to find his man and get rid of the football pretty quickly.

7) Hoyer has been known to hold onto the ball until the last second, before throwing it, or throwing it away.

8) Hoyer is not prone to holding it too long, and then eating it.

9) Hoyer seems to favor a ball-control, short, medium range passing, and the run game, to move the ball.

10) Hoyer is best summarized as a QB who seems to exhibit lots of something called unflappability.

11) Hoyer's best one word description is "POISE".

12) Hoyer suffers from a nasty case of premature baldness.

Doesn't really come off like TFB to me, but I think he's quite good and a keeper for sure. Could prolly win us some games in a pinch.

Sound to me like Brady and Montana.... #3 leads me to guess Montana

Maybe it's the lack of hair, but he reminds me of Jeff Garcia.
