Not to suggest that we have an easy task ahead but that was a very cold, windy, gusty night. Ryan presents problems - and opportunities - but this Sunday the conditions will be far more favorable for our offense.

'nuff said, skippy. Just sayin'... and he's not the DC of the Ravens anymore. He's the HC of the NYJ (sucker) whose owner has spent the last decade desperately trying to find a HC who can hold that nutcase BB's jock.

I realize you pay a price for going national, and Breer is no exception. He now panders to an audience.

    Correctomundo, Mo!

I'd also like to point out that the Patriots are nor the Texans, either, amd mow that the opening day jitters are worked out, that new young feller, what's his name, Sandy? Sanford? Sunkist? QB'ing for the Jets, might find it a little more difficult on Sunday.

    Oh yeah.. Sanchez..... heh.. :singing:

I expect the Jets to put up some points. I just expect that New England will put up more.

Yeah, it was 40 degrees with 27MPH winds (windchill was 29 degrees) at gametime in 2007. Sunday's forecast for the Meadowlands is 72 degrees with 7 MPH wind.

Also suspect that Sanford, or whatever his name is, will see some things that he is not prepared for... BB is the master of confusing rookie QB's... Sanford is not going to Canton just yet.

IIRC the 27 MPH winds were also gusting higher than that. Maybe it seemed worse at the time but I remember they were making a real big deal of the wind on the broadcast.

Honestly, the only reason that game was a game was b/c the refs let the Ravens CBs get away with murder.

You know, i was p!ssed at the blatant fouls the refs were letting Baltimore get away with. However, I got ANGRY when I watched the tape again and saw just HOW many times that stuff happened.

I know that, in every game, there will be a couple iffy calls, and a couple or three missed calls, That's human nature. It's a BIG field and the refs can't be or see everywhere. However, THAT game was a really frustrating time because you could SEE the fouls happening as wellas SEE the ref looking right at it and not calling it.

When the TV booth guys are pointing it out and asking questions, you KNOW something is up.

This is going to be a hard fought game. But, honestly, the build-up to the game this week eerily reminds me of the build-up to the Pittsburgh game in 2007, except for the guarantee. Patriots having looked weak the week before, Brady didn't look like he was all that until the 4th quarter, the opposing team smelling blood in the water. I just hope the result is similar. :D

Not for nuthin, but wasn't it the Ravens offense that almost "wrecked" us that night? The Ravens defense got away with murder for most of the game (but not at the end, finally), but as I recall the knock was that the Ravens rookie QB, whom BB should have been able to contain, did pretty well against us. Then Rex wrecked himself on two fronts, the ill-timed time-out and failure to keep his thugs under control once the refs finally started calling a few penalties on them. We did put up 27 points against this vaunted D, even with all the missed penalties.

I want us to see us do well against Sanchez. I am not as concerned about our O putting up points.

Kyle Boller started that game and wasn't a rookie. You're referring to Troy Smith who didn't play that game.

    I like Breer.

    However, a little historical accuracy:

That 4th down play timeout was being wistled before the snap. As a result, some guys stopped, some were standing around confused. The "stop" looked badder than it was because a Raven didn't stop and made the tackle for a loss.

The guy who made the tackle came from the right guard position/ the same guy who stood up to see who blew the whistle.

On the first drive, Watson dropped an easy TD pass, same with Moss in the second half.

I don't get the concept that some dude is Canton bound genius because he lost a game late while getting 27 points scored on him.

The Ravens were 13-3 in 2006 and 11-5 in 2008. It's not like they are an expansion team fielding high school players.

I didn't know we were playing the Ravens this Sunday.

As good as the Jets defense looked Sunday, they are not the Ravens.

Also, this is week 2. When we played the Ravens it was week 13. We were banged up, and had the pressure of staying undefeated.

Wasn't that Bart Scott who was complaining that the refs were letting them get away with that the whole game until the last play.
He said something to the effect of..If you're going to let us play like that than don't just change your mind at the last minute of the game.
My own reaction to that was " ARE YOU FVCKING KIDDING ME, BART!"

It was brutal. Honestly, I can't see the NYJ getting away with that this year. The refs already seem to be calling tighter games.

Oops, my bad. The point is that our vaunted D was supposed to do well against the Ravens anemic O, and they managed to hang 24 points on us.

What exactly does a 2007 Boller led Ravens offense have to do with week two of the 2009 season?

    Here is what happened:

Ravens played inspired football in the first half.

In the second half, they started with 2 TD drives to get to 24 points for the game. After that, adjustments were made, and they never got another first down and turned the ball over.

They better learn how to run the ball like they did last year. They can't just start losing games because the weather isn't subtropical anymore.
