This is what I love about him and what seperates him from most great players who purport to be leaders...he will beat himself up and allow Bill to beat him up in order to show the other egos in the room that he respects coaching, and considering he's a lock HOF'er they damn well better accept/respect coaching too.

I've never been an athelete hero worshiper but guys like Bruschi and Brady "I always include myself" "there's not a day that goes by that I don't think about the way the season ended last year" "obviously I sucked" shows me someone not self-absorbed and driven in all the constructive ways to succeed. Class act. We're blessed with a lifetime experience never to be duplicated for most if not all of us. Enjoy it now. It won't last forever.

Good interview, don't have a problem with anything he said. Nice to see he also looks at himself when wondering what went wrong in 2009.

That being said, people will bash him for this.Yesterday I heard the PFW guys speculating that, perhaps if Brady attended every offseason workout in 08 and 09, Adalius Thomas would've been a better teammate and better player.

I've now come to terms with the fact that people will grill Brady for this in every way imaginable. From reasonable criticism to absolutely ridiculous speculation.

I usually don't pay attention to the words athletes utter...usually cliched generic blather. Not this time....."Do your job" ...broken down with some humility.
I keep going back to the Denver game last year. The game that got AD benched. I tevo'd the game and watched the first half, focusing on AD. The man had no clue....each and every play...he failed to engage, he ran around lost. It was like watching my son chase the pack in kids soccer, but staying 10 feet away from the action at all times. Either he was completely befuddled by the game plan...or making a statement that the role he was given was not suited to his skills. Regardless...the man didn't belong on the field.
Thinking back to 2001...sure the team had alot of talent, but the roster also was stuffed with free agent journeymen that "did their jobs". I hope BB/Brady/Wilfork,Faulk keep hammering this point across.

WOW, just Wow ! That gave me goosebumps, this is just one athlete that get's it. Tom Brady is all class, how many athletes have you seen willing to take blame, for anything ? He comes out and blames himself for certain things. We are so fricken lucky to have Tom Brady for his whole career. We are watching history folks, like Bobby Orr or Bill Russell, Brady is greatness personified.

You mean opposed to some self absord ahole like this

“I put a lot of pressure on myself to go out be great and the best player on the court, When I’m not, I feel bad for myself because I’m not going out there and doing the things I know I can do.”

“I spoil a lot of people with my play,” James said. “When you have three bad games in a seven-year career, it is easy to point that out.”

Whatever monster Lebron's ego has become, we as a society were the ones who fed it.

Speak for yourself - I'm pretty sure I've considered this guy a fraud since the get-go. He abuses nearly every rule in the game of basketball. He hooks on his drives, pushes off, charges with his shoulder - travels incessantly. Truly, if the game were called the way it were meant to be called, I honestly do not believe Lebron James would be an All-Star player. No hyperbole, this guy has completely taken advantage of a league that caters to stars and just ran with it.

So... because you disagree with how something happened, you're no longer a part of society?

I didn't call you out personally, just pointing out that our culture is partially to blame for his attitude.

First I'll talk about football; Brady is a badass and we're blessed to have him. Please lock this dude up in a long term deal.

Now that's over with, I'll say my two cents about basketball. I have zero interest in basketball outside of playoff times so I really don't hate the other teams like a lot of you Celtics fans do (The Celtics aren't even my team, I don't have one. I'm just a casual 'fan' in playoff time , like a lot of people are for football). That said, Lebron James is a phenomenal talent, say what you want about his breaking of the 'rules' but his ability to play like he does is no different than any other star in the league. Both him and Kobe can put up the stats like they do because of the way basketball is officiated. But the man does choke a bit, but honestly, from what I've seen in this series is when he's 'on' the rest of the Cavs are too, but when hes off they all look like bumbling bafoons. They win a lot of their games because he puts up 30+ pts regularly, hes critical to their team. So its only natural their team suffers when he does.

You bring up a very good point. The Denver game was really the beginning of the end for AD as a Patriot. If you think back, that was the week Thomas missed practice Thursday and Friday leading up to the game. The media was scrambling to find out why he was a no show, but never really found out, and it was forgotten shortly thereafter. The EEI flash called it a non injury related excuse from practice, but had no clue as that’s really all the Patriots would say.

AD had rushed down to Florida late Wednesday evening as his daughter was hospitalized due to a severe case of H1N1. She was extremely ill. He spent the entire time at her side in the hospital before making it back late Friday to catch the flight to Denver. His play was horrible in that game and as a result, he was benched the following week against the Titans.

Things were never the same for both sides after that long week that led up to the Denver game.

That sounds a little like Seymour being excused for his grandmother's funeral and then not starting because he missed practice. Or maybe it's the opposite.

BB obviously has to learn to communicate a little more sensitively in those situations, even assuming (which is of course very likely) that he's make totally solid football decisions.

Prove me wrong. What skills does Lebron James have that would make him an All-Star if you took away his ability to drive to the hoop using 3 techniques that are completely illegal. Does Lebron James have a good outside game? Does he have exceptional ball-handling? Can he post-up? Surprisingly, the answer to all 3 is "not really".
