Brandon Browner - rusty?

Will give Browner a "bye" as to whether or not he is rusty, we will know more in the next couple of games....

It does seem that the Refs are out of control with the flags this year...

They are, and you can than the competition committee and the cheese and wine crowd for that

Actually, you can thank the forehead's ineptness in the postseason for that.

Was he even thrown at in his 41 snaps?
I don't remember any. He looked good to me and the penalties were awful calls.

Quite seriously, the only way to combat these imaginary penalties is to get a lead then start laying out every receiver, penalty or not until the refs are horrified.

I alluded to a true Dave Cowens story where he complained about ticky tack fouls on him and other Celtics to no avail. Next time down the court, he leveled a guy, shot his hand up immediately and said, "now that's a foul." (before flagrant fouls). Lay a few guys out legally (no cheap shot) then reduce it to normal level and dare the refs to throw a flag on every play.

Hell, all Browner would need to do is what he's been getting away with for Seattle, then dial it down a notch.

This... And if/when we reach the playoffs, his type of play will pay dividends. Across sports, when you get to the important games, the refs don't want to be the ones deciding the games and it boggles the mind that the excuse "let them play," is accepted. If the pats had been hitting guys in the mouth instead of worrying about laundry on the field, we might have put down the Giants both times... And this is coming from someone who has whined about the Tyree play. It's almost a disadvantage that Belichick coaches against committing penalties so well. You don't want to be too reckless, but maybe there's a happy medium between that and being a bunch of choir boys.

An itchy trigger finger is new rule of thumb. Fall in line with Goodell's God-like proclomations or your unemployed.

Why can't the refs be punished for "delay of game"?

that was always browner thing getting flaged at lest once a game and now the refs are calling it even more so if you want his enforcer type play on the field you have to take the good with the bad

Browner is going to get penalized. Get used to it. His style of play will cause him to be called a lot for defensive holding or hits passed the 5 yard mark. That's fine. As we saw on Thursday, he is a fine, fine corner.

It may be early for us to claim to have the best corner duo in the NFL. I'm not sure that we should want to trade this pair for any other in the league.

And we have more. Dennard is a fine starter. Arrington is one of the best nickel backs in the league, and he was benched!

Great post, although playing to not commit penalties has little to do with this. The things being called aren't penalties, they're the result of political pressure being put on referees that are barely able to keep up with calling the game as it is. Don't understand what an "emphasis" means when it's still legal to bump guys within five yards? Get your quota in so you don't get in trouble. That's what's happening.

BB will have so many ideas for defenses with this much talent. He's won the Super Bowl with scrubs back there, it's his area of expertise. Can't wait to see what he comes up with. It could even overcome the loss at LB to an extent. so much varied talent at DB...
