I saw this quote: "The legacy of Deflategate may be that it tarnishes Goodell’s reputation far more than it tarnishes Brady’s."

This may not be the final nail in Goodells coffin, but it was a damn big one with a lot of media attention on it. He went after the most popular player in the league. He went all in. Hard. and he lost. This will be the biggest thing that media and players point to when talking about Goodell. THIS is what the NFLPA will use as it's leverage in future CBA negotiations. This will force the NFLPA and Owners to reduce all future commissioner's power.

Stuff like this was never an issue with Tagliabue because he was smart enough to put out fires behind the scenes. In contrast, this entire deflate gate thing started behind the scenes as an inside job (Kensil), leaked to ESPN with false information, and then didnt get corrected by NFL's public relations…. causing a huge media ****storm right before the SuperBowl.

Now Bradys starting in the season opener, with the 2014 Super Bowl championship banner about to be raised. Goodell will not be there because he's too much of a coward to show his face in New England.

Brady's legacy is solid. Most people don't read into the legal stuff enough to know what exactly happened. All they know is that the court ruled in favor of Brady and he won't be suspended. In most casual fans eyes that means "Brady is innocent".

Cant wait to see that banner hoisted up.

I completely agree. Brady's legacy is fine and intact. When history looks back on him after his retirement they will note how not only was he a 4+ time superbowl champion, but also defeated the NFL after being falsely accused of cheating. This whole 'cheating' thing will die down after his retirement and the world will see it for what it really was.

And on a related note, I hope Brady, BB, and the rest of the team runs up the score on every team this season just like they did in 2007. The best thing they can do now is to stay in the news by winning, and in a convincing manner, keeping them the main talking point every week in the sports news cycle. That would piss off every Patriots hater around the nation, not to mention NFL upper management.
