An interesting stat from Sports Illustrated's 2012 NFL preview issue:
In 2011, Brady attempted just 89 passes—out of 611—against opposing team's base defenses. That's less than 15%.
By contrast, Drew Brees attempted over 200 passes against base defenses. (He had 657 attempts, so roughly 1/3 of them were against base defenses.)
Not sure what to make of it, but certainly interesting.
