Who is greater? Brady as QB or BB as Coach?

That's an oft-repeated phrase, but in reality Belichick would have made the change very soon with or without that injury. BB almost made the switch coming out of training camp in 2001; between the way Bledsoe had played in 2000 and how Brady had looked in camp in '01, the change was inevitable.

Belichick kept Brady on the roster despite having three other quarterbacks.

Or said another way, Belichick felt the need to retain three "backup" quarterbacks under Bledsoe..
 
I am surprised how many feel Belichick is greater than Brady is, Belichick had a 36-44 record during his tenure with Cleveland, a 5-11 record his first season as the Patriots head coach, and started 0-2 in 2001 before Brady took the helm. I think they are both great but just looking at the full scope Brady is the constant when it comes to Belichick having a winning record (not to say Belichick is not the constant for Brady).
Fair argument, but one could also make the case that before he was coached by BB, Tom Brady was only good enough to be worthy of being the 199th player drafted, and 7th QB.

Watch the documentary on Cleveland. Belichick was building a great operation that would have become the Patriots has Art Modell not betrayed Cleveland. That was a very complicated situation.

Brady and Belichick owe an awful lot to Bob Kraft for what they've become. And vice versa.
