Is anyone else watching this special? This is another very good job by the NFLN.
Yes it's awsome seeing Brady with his sisters..wow good stuff i recorded it.
It's actually an NFL Films production and as usual it's fantastic. Good insight to all 3 QBs.
Most of it is footage from the "America's Game" series.
Wow, the quarterhick prayed to God while on the bench against Brady coming back to win last year's AFCCG on the last drive. Disturbing.
Yup, and still disturbing to watch footage from that game.
Which Manning are they featuring? The one still in the playoffs or his older bro, Mr. Choke?
Did you catch this stat?
"All 3 QBs have never missed a start."
You know what ring is my favorite?
....the next one.
Oddly, as annoying as his audible antics and overemotional drama queen demeanor on the field are, I get why players like Peyton. He's really a good guy at heart, and pretty self effacing off the field. That was a neat clip - he bent his head and prayed to god not to let Brady win this once...and he felt if was a fair thing to ask since Tom already had 3 rings...and this might be his only chance (see, moreso than his fans, he gets it...).
The media has turned a lot of us off to Favre and Manning with the ball washing, just as other fan bases feel that way about Brady. Thing is, there are really those three, and a couple of thus far inconsistent wannabes, and a bunch of JAGS leading NFL teams in this decade. We are lucky and should never lose sight of just how lucky. Like them or not, these 3 are special.
Obviously this was filmed in the last week or so as Selleck indicated it was likely one of these 3 would take home a Lombardi this season. I love that they ended with the classic Tommy response to the question which is your favorite ring...the next one.
If I remember right that was after the first SB and he was quoting a former Michigan coach.
Figures, Eli is in the playoffs, Peyton is home watching on TV and they do a show on how Mr. Choke is a great QB.
That's because Brady cheated, Manning has had better receivers, and John Madden likes Brett.
You got that pegged Mo. This is a great time to be a football fan. I have respect for all three of them.
Some of us just adopt the troll mentality and can't see the forrest for the trees thereafter. Manning came in with all the expectations weighing on him. It was additionally his misfortune to be playing in the same era as Brady. Believe me, he gets it. Same deal for Eli, although because of the way daddy engineered that one he's garnered little sympathy for struggling to live up to expectations. He hasn't won anything yet, Peyton has.
We all know Tommy's story, or should, but it's nice to see it chronicled yet again for all the troll like naysayers on other teams. Favre was really a piece of work. Holmgren saw the potential, Glanville the idiot didn't. Favre was the natural - he didn't know what a nickle D was until he asked a teamate in GB one day, and still didn't get the significance of it. He was the classic, carefree gunslinger for most of his career. He may not be a student of the game, as the other two most certainly are, but what they share is a deep love for and devotion to playing it. Not sure Eli is in that league either.
I don't think you start to appreciate all the nuances until you evolve beyond bandwaggon or kneejerk fandom into a real fan of the game of football.
I just watched the same special and I couldn't agree more with this sentiment.
As much as I dislike Peyton and the Colts culture around him, I certainly recognize and respect his excellence as a player. Same with Favre. But praying to God to keep Brady from winning the game ... I dunno, it bugs me. If he instead prayed to give the Colts defense strength that would've seemed more appropriate.
Look at it this way: only divine intervention can stop Brady.
Actually, I think it's a couple months old. I remember seeing it a while ago on ABC one afternoon.
