Tom Brady returns to New England Patriots after knee surgery - Peter King - SI.com
Re: Brady-King interview on SI.com
It's a little shorter than I expected without too much new stuff but . . . chills . . . Welcome Back Tommy
edit - just realized I forgot to read Page 2, it's a bit better now
Re: Brady-King interview on SI.com
Agreed, maybe they'll put up some video of the interview to augment it or something. They should at least.
Hearing that he wants to play until 41 and that the injury was his career's "halftime" is pretty exciting, man I'd love to see him get another ring or two. Plus, he seems ultra-motivated to say the least...
Brady explains the staph infection, and disappoints O'Connell
Peter King's inteview with TFB is online.
Two quick quotes:
Bad move, Tom. You don't want the Mrs. to be able to say "See, I told you so." before you get married. :singing:
Kevin O'Connell, on seeing this: :enranged:
Most every Patriot fan, on seeing this: :rocker:
And, BTW, the piece ends with a great quote from Welker.
Re: Brady explains the staph infection, and disappoints O'Connell
Looks like we posted at the same time, given this thread title is better, mods please merge mine...poor O'Connell, LOL.
BOB KRAFT...get your check book ready.
This deserves to get some "My bad" comments from those who railed against Brady getting the surgery done out west.
Also the whole "I want to play until I'm 41" thing and the revelation he's been working his a** off in Foxboro since November should calm down the folks that rail against Brady for having a life, family, etc.
Wow. Now, thats what I'm talking about. Good score by King.
Ehhh.... guy's a slacker. He didn't even bother to show up for that rookie thing last week.
this proves that the curran article about 2nd operation was total bull crap, its nice how a media idiot like himself can make things up get his story talked about, and still have a job after brady states it was bull. he should never be taken seriously again , this to me this is just as bad as the spygate of tomasse
It's not at all. Curran's article posited one possible scenario, and I don't think he ever sold it as anything other than that. He was wrong about an injury diagnosis, that's not a huge deal.
LOL (10 chars)
he stated he was behind schedule, could miss the season with a 2nd operation to do the whole acl over, would probably need a 2nd opreation to clean up scar tissue, and would likely play with limited mobility and a knee brace, all wrong except playing with a brace which is typical, you really dont know what your talking about
I'm with ivan on this one unless Brady is lying. Curran clearly said a second ACL replacement was a possibility - in this article is says Brady denied that report. So . . . I'm going with Brady.
Re: Brady-King interview on SI.com
A few tidbits for the negative nancys and pats haters to consider:
To those that have been saying that Brady has gone soft and lost his desire to play football: Brady said "I want to play another ten years" and that playing ten more seasons "is a big goal of mine, a very big goal. I want to play until I'm 41. And if I get to that point and still feel good, I'll keep playing. I mean, what the hell else am I going to do? I don't like anything else.
"People say, 'What will you do if you don't play football?' Why would I even think of doing anything else? What would I do instead of run out in front of 80,000 people and command 52 guys and be around guys I consider brothers and be one of the real gladiators? Why would I ever want to do anything else? It's so hard to think of anything that would match what I do: Fly to the moon? Jump out of planes? Bungee-jump off cliffs? None of that s--- matters to me. I want to play this game I love, be with my wife and son, and enjoy life."
That doesn't exactly sound like a guy who has lost his desire to play football and will be retiting soon.
Regarding the infection, more bad news for the haters.
"I wanted to prove I could move around and get ahead of schedule," Brady recalled, "and nothing was going to stop me. Unfortunately I did too much too soon. I was responsible for the infection. In a way it was probably good for me -- it slowed me down a little bit." Not due to a botched operation; but due to Brady trying to do too much too soon. And for opposing fans who revel in calling Brady a deadbeat dad, it happened while he was playing with his son; another myth shot down.
Lastly there are those haters that wanted to question why Brady wasn't on the sidelines during games last year, stating "Peyton/Ben/fill-in-the-blank would be there to support his teammates." "Coach Belichick didn't want me on the sidelines for the game," Brady said. "He told me, 'Every time we'd throw an incompletion the camera would go to you on the sideline, and we don't need that.' We all knew it was because he didn't want to be a distraction, but it didn't stop the haters' finger pointing last year.
I'm sure this interview won't keep the haters from hating or the doubters from doubting, but if I was a fan of another team then my level of confidence in my team beating the Pats this year would have just dropped a notch or two.
Thanks for the link.
Music to my ears. What a competitor!
The "10 years" will no doubt be ringing in Bob Kraft's ears and reverberating in his wallet. TB's going to be looking for a long term deal well before his contract is up next year and probably just as soon as he's shown that "he's really back." The sooner they get it done, the better.
Right, Curran's speculation and information turned out to be wrong, obviously he had no way of knowing what Brady knew about his own knee. But I don't see how that is at all comparable to what Tomase did.
I don't know that they can get it done this year, but it's definitely on the agenda for 2010.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of deal they strike. Brady took less then he could've had last time around and his financial situation has only improved since then. It wouldn't surprise me if he takes about a 10% "hometown discount". I'd say Moss did that as well, in fact.
Holy crap I just noticed the threads look different. Everything is on the side instead of at the top.
I'm not saying it was at Curran's level but it's clear to me that Curran took a snippet of information and amplified it which got him a lot of attention and hits but had no basis in fact.
But, moving on, that doesn't matter anymore and I considered Curran a journeyman before this episode so it didn't change my opinion of him.
Great story, Brady is so pumped, just reading his comments translates into instant excitement !
I'm so sic'd to see them all back out there !
With his voice rising as he leaned forward in his chair, Brady said that playing 10 more seasons "is a big goal of mine, a very big goal. I want to play until I'm 41. And if I get to that point and still feel good, I'll keep playing. I mean, what the hell else am I going to do? I don't like anything else
SSSSSHHHH. Did you hear that? That was our division rivals collectivly saying, "OH SH*T!":disagreement:
Patriots are going to tear **** up in '09 BOY!!!
It's a terrible shame we lost a year of the greatest QB that will ever helm the Patriots.
Yeah, it stinks. But maybe, just maybe, it got us more time at the other end.
I don't mean to be a party pooper, but has there EVER been an NFL QB who has played on the same team who drafted him after reaching 40?
Usually once a QB hits the upper 30s he gets traded elsewhere from his original team (Like Montana and Bledsoe ect
I want TFB to play as long as possible, but if I were him, I would want to spend time more time with my ridiculously hot wife ... while she is still ridiculously hot.
Yeah, She'll be a cow in 10 years.......
Separate names with a comma.
