Good. Boxing is an excellent outlet for all that excessive anger Brady has built up.

I love me some Muff. Nothing like the fat, out of shape, irrational hater that Muff is to uplift the offseason. You're the man, Kontra.

99% of the sweet science is footwork. Hands are thrown off of the feet. I doubt he's hitting the heavy bag with bad wraps.

Not odd at all in my mind at all, man. Boxing is one of the most
common cross training disciplines for specialists. Most of it is skipping rope, shaddow boxing, working the speed and reaction bags. Very little in boxing training involves actually punching for power. Whn working with wraps, 16oz bag gloves, and with a trainer the chances of a significant hand injury are fairl minimal. The advantage of the training for the QB is the footwork while keeping shoulder and hand focus on a target. It's just another way of adding oblique strength, pocket awareness, and finally learning how to throw an entire bodyweight into an arm motion.

If Brady is boxing he's going to come into minicamp in better shape than most guys. I boxed a couple of years ago. The fat literally drips off your body. Swimming is probably the only better way to stay in shape IMO.

You're not kidding, bro. Boxing is badass cardio training. It was my main sport before foosball, and was my offseason conditioning workout my full career. In college, I was doing eight 225 punch 3 minute rounds on the heavybag. I puked quite a bit in those days. There's nothing in football remotely as drainng than a legit hardcore bag sesh. If I worked hard in the boxing training, nothing in camp could get me gassed. Dude, how much does a 1-1-2-3-4-2-3 take out of you?! I hope 12 is doing that sh*t. Dude will be in unreal shape this season.

Training for boxing typically involves some sort of distance running.

Indeed it does. Personally I believe the best fitness regime is one with variety and tests both systems.

P.S I have a clear bias toward running and track and field ;)

Ugh. I have a deep disdain for track and field. My football coach made us do either that or soccer in the offseason to stay in shape. And, since I didn't want to play that fruity European sport, I chose track and field.

so brady gets all tough and decides he's going to stand up to gisele

so he goes outside to where she is washing her car.......

he then offers to help wash the car, take out the trash, then offers to take he to ballroom dancing lessons

Ochocincon (fwiw) uses boxing during the offseason, and at times during the regular season, to stay in shape too. Not uncommon at all.

the cardio is good but unfortunately over the long haul running kills the knees, tightens your hips and makes your spine really rigid and unhealthy -

ive helped alot of runners heal injuries and balance their body in my yoga studio (bikram)

I've never actually boxed before but I do own a punching bag. That itself is a helluva workout and I'm pouring sweat within a couple minutes. Can only imagine the shape you have to be in to actually box.

Does it help if you run on a treadmill as opposed to concrete?
