Brady bashing has officially begun

I don't see why people are saying Brady played bad. If Crumpler doesn't drop that easy TD, Brady throws for 300 yards and 3 TD's. Is that not good enough? Like BB said, just too many mistakes. The fumbles, the drop, the stupid INT, the fake punt, etc.

Stats were all padded in the late third and fourth quarter against the prevent defense.

Huh?

This is the exact same quarterback we've always seen. Rex Ryan has owned Tom Brady (by Brady's standards) more than half the times they've played. You realize the Jets were BUILT to stop Tom Brady, right?

This was one of the greatest regular seasons in NFL history by a quarterback.

The Jets lost 45-3. Getting punched in the mouth doesn't effect Brady- it effect every quarterback, team, and player in the NFL. The Jets came out with some great schemes and got constant pressure on him. He played a pretty good game today; lesser QBs would have a stat line with 4 interceptions.

MVP performance? No way. Choke? Perhaps. Does this mean Brady has lost a step? Come on. He is still great... one of the best to ever play the game.

Regular season this sounds right. Playoffs? Not anymore. Facts are facts.

Excuse me? See bass is 2x better than kazcur ever was and connoly played about as well throughout the course of the season as Neal ever has. So this line was at 100% today.

That's exactly it: they were 100%, and they were still awful. Connolly and Koppen both. If Mankins leaves, that leaves us without a single good interior offensive lineman. It absolutely does need addressing.

That does appear to be the blueprint. All the more reason to shore up the middle of the offensive line.

Disagree. I would use virtually every draft pick on Defense. I want this team to be like the Ravens Superbowl winners of a few years ago. That way even if Brady lays his fourth playoff egg in a row, the defense can still win the game.

Brady played like garbage in the biggest game of the season. The rest of the offense followed him into the toilet. Last night was the first time I started thinking that maybe it's time to move on from him and BB. Yes I know its an over reaction, but I'm pissed. We have all offseason to stew on this loss. He played like crap and showed no guts. The old Brady was low on talent but had GUTS. Where was that last night. He just sat there on the sidelines emotionless. Everyone is saying that in our office this morning.

Do you have any suggestions on how you would replace them and not be in the #1 Overall Pick Bowl every year?

Can't argue with the facts, let's be honest over the last 3 playoff games, this hasn't been the same TB from the glory years showing fire and passion. Recently, in the PO, as soon as one thing goes wrong, the happy feet in the pocket come back along with the deer in the headlights look. Let's be honest here, that's alarming, he never used to be like that in the post season. I wonder if he even sees this.

If he doesn't, then it's the job of the coaching staff to show him. What the hell is O'Brien doing? Isn't he the QB coach?

Can the the guy from the Hangover not be calling the plays anymore please?

Teams could see that last year. If it were really that simple, the Pats wouldn't have gone 14-2 last year.

I guess the real question is why the OL has played so poorly in its last three playoff games.

Out-coached. The same personnel on Jets played the same personnel on the Pats December 6th, but the Jets made serious adjustments and the Pats did not. Coach's failure.

Look at the four defenses left, coincidence?

It should be obvious that our QB is one of the best in the League, nobody could dispute that. What bears watching, however, is his seeming decline in post-season play.

Of his 5 sacks yesterday, 4 were "coverage sacks"....and the 5th was caused by a bad formation which allowed a blitzing DB to slip through. The O-Line played pretty well...considering...to include a 4.4 yard avg. on running plays. As some have pointed out, Tom had many situations where his O-line provided him plenty of time to make a throw.. ...or run it himself for a first down (he doesn't seem to have any qualms about the QB sneak during short yardage situations). And this against a Jet's defensive line that is supposed to be one of their strengths.

I'd say the excellent coverage by the Jets secondary, combined with the pressure defense of their front seven, was the difference. It kept us from taking control of the game...and forcing the Jets into a passing-oriented offense.

And our defense was dealt several "bad hands" during this game, principally due to the bad plays by the offense or special teams. You really can't ask this young defense to play any better...allowing only 14 first downs, 300 yards total offense, and a respectable performance on 3rd down conversions. Admittedly, we had no sacks and precious little pressure on Sanchez, so the need for a pass rushing specialist cannot be disputed when building next year's Team. The play of our QB really needed to compensate for the young defense...just as the play of the Jet's defense compensated for their young QB....but that didn't happen.

I believe there were many coaching gaffes, as well, so the blame doesn't rest entirely on Brady's shoulders. However a QB of his experience and talent needs to overcome sub-optimal coaching on a stage such as this.

But maybe our expectations for TFB are misplaced?

During these playoffs:

Defeated quarterbacks (and their ages): Brees/32, Manning/34, Brady/33, Hasselbeck/35

Winning quarterbacks: Sanchez/24, Cutler/27, Rodgers/27, Roethlisberger/28

Does this constitute a pattern?

Montana won his last Super Bowl at age 33, Bradshaw at age 31, and Aikman at age 29.

The defense is accountable for just as much blame as the offense. The patriots had all the momentum after the touchdown and 2 point conversion, if the defense got a 3 and out there's no doubt the offense would have went down and scored. That was the decisive series of the game, capped off with Santonio making an unbelievable catch in the back corner of the endzone.

Your point is excellent, but for the sake of accuracy Brees just turned 32 (January 15, 1979).

Anyone who attended the 2008 AFC CG at Gillette can vouch for the fact that Brady had a bad game that night. So did the offense. In fact, last night's O against the Jets was better than in 2008.

The difference was that the 2008 D shut down the Chargers. They actually got some pass rush on Rivers and forced him into bad inaccurate throws.

I tend to agree that a better defense will be huge in terms of taking some of the weight off of Brady.

Yeah Brady has had some bad playoff games against the Chargers. 3 picks each game.

Brady is the leader of the offense.

He played scared yesterday, and the rest of the offense reflected that.

How many times we going to hear about how intense Brady looks next year?

The team is now just as capable of coughing up a a hairball as anyone else.

What is BB going to put on the walls now?

Didn't Elway win his superbowls at 37 and 38?

2008???????

Also, and this bugged me last night, he had 3 or 4 opportunities where he could have taken off for 5-7 yards even with a yard to slide. I know its not his thing but the field was wide open a few times to step out and away from the rush

That's in my opinion one of the three most identifiable failures of the offense, along with the Crumpler drop (hey it happens), and the off-target through to Branch on 4th & 13.

Of the three, it's the one that may not be purely on the player(s) but rather something the coaches could have averted or fixed. (Building the early offense around Crumpler was a risk, but one that one the whole paid off, so his drop was not the result of a coaching error IMO).
