Can't stand listening to Denise and Cathy on EEI so I usually listen to Boomer Esiason on WFAN on Monday's for some really good football talk. Boomer found it very curious that NBC broadcast Tom Brady's playcalling at the line during the game. (It was so clear I actually heard Brady call out to Randy Moss by name during one play) Boomer noted how they did it extensively during the 1st half but seemed to scale it back in the 2nd half. I don't recall if they did audio for Feeley's playcalling or not. Boomer thinks this is unfair to the Patriots since other teams can get tape of the game w/ audio and match up what Tom said versus what play was run and could potentially pick something up to use against the Patriots. If anyone has a tape of the game you might want to go back and check it out. Did they broadcast Feeley or just Brady??

The sound was as clear as a bell. I heard Gaffney being called out as well as Moss.

"wes" (I heard this as well).

Peyton says "Omaha" a lot too. Odd that they do broadcast, but any team could employ a "fan", get them close enough to the action where they may be able to hear at least some stuff. Hell, the entire defense hears it all game long. Might be less of an issue than we think. 96 was the "mike" a lot though, eh?

IIRC from the '04 playbook that was available online, Omaha means that the playclock is running down .

I hate NBC's coverage of the games. Absolutely terrible. I'm watching a football game, I want to see the formations, who's in, who's in motion, what the defense is doing, etc. If I want to watch a close-up of some hunky dude I'll tune into a soap opera.

I actually noticed this. I was wondering how fast the information from the cameras was getting down to the field. They need to keep the cameras out of the huddle.

I made this point after the San Diego game. If you read quotes after the Miami loss last season, the Phins claimed to have synched up TV and TV audio IOT decipher Brady's audibles. I find it interesting that on the 2nd of back to back Sunday Night games the Pats should struggle on offense. Maybe Philly got the audio off TV from last week and was "extra" prepared this week. Also, in the 2nd half, the Pats offense struggled. Maybe the "synch and burn" took place at half time for the Iggles.

Well hopefully the Pats change them. Now that it's been pointed out.

You see this a lot with Peyton and Brady, mostly on Monday and Sunday night games. I don't think CBS does it so much. I'm surprised neither coach has complained.

I have to admit I thought it was pretty cool that I could hear Brady calling out audibles. I heard him yell "Gaff, Omaha" and then he threw a quick WR screen to him.

He sounds like a badass mofo when he is out there barking orders.

I wonder what Omaha means for Giselle?

acually it was "Jab" and then it went to him. I hate it too and don't think it's fair abut seriously the defense is hearing too adn if they can't figure out "Jab" is Jabar Gaffney then they should really do more research

The question is why is Brady calling out names? I never heard that before last night. It was very strange. On two occasions he called out the player that he threw to. He threw to Gaffey for the key 3rd down after calling out 'Gaf' and he threw to Wes Welker after calling out 'Wes' - very bizzarre!

Teams can obviously sync up Brady's audio with video of the play that happened.

How is this allowed, yet videotaping defensive hand signals is cheating and worth a penalty of a 1st rounder and 750K!!??

I made it a point to listen to the Eagles' offensive drives to see if I was crazy and they did it for the both of them.... well it seemed like they simply turned off these field mic's for Feeley. All you can hear is crowd noise. I agree that I don't know how this is so much worse than taping defensive signals. Other teams can easily watch this game tape and hear everything. I hadnt really looked for it before, but I do remember hearing Peyton's audibles a lot too. NFL trying to create more parity in the league? ;)

Everytime I heard him use Omaha last night, it was with less then 5 sec on the PC and it was a quick snap.

This has been happening all year. It's ridiculous. Then again, I suspect if the Patriots considered it truly unfair, they'd contact the league and networks (whose committee is chaired by Kraft) and put a stop to it.
