Being reported by Mort on ESPN Radio right now.

What in the world are they doing out there?

Firing Marty? I'll turn on ESPN TV to check that out.

If true...they're a joke. The two viable replacements have left.

Chargers Fire Schottenheimer
The Chargers fired Marty Schottenheimer on Monday, reports ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Schottenheimer led San Diego to a 14-2 regular-season record, only to lose in the AFC divisional playoffs.

I wonder who will coach the Chargers this year?

Some organizations get it and others don't. Some have banners, others don't.

WOW - ESPN reports:

BREAKING NEWS Alert
Chargers Fire Schottenheimer

Care to guess who they about to hire??

James Lofton is the only man left standing over there. Thanks for making our schedule slightly less difficult SD. Stay classy.

Where's Colts Bolts?

Word is that Marty and AJ Smith were arguing over assistants on the staff. Who in their right mind would want that head coaching job without input on the coordinators? That organization is a total mess.

This is very interesting. Tuna anyone?

It would really funny if the owner fired AJ Smith by the end of the month.

I wouldn't doubt if this gets rescinded like the A's manager. If not....good luck San Diego starting from scratch. NE had to do it with two asst's and now San Diego has a new coaching staff.

NE sitting pretty now.

First OC, then DC and now HC are all gone from a 14-2 squad. Yikes!

Regards,
Chris

Saw this coming a mile a way. I don't know who they're going to get to replace him but San Diego can't let that talent waste away to a coach that can not get it done in the postseason. The great thing for a coach coming into that situation is that the roster and talent level is already ready made to win and to compete for the postseason. Now let's see who they hire. And that's going to be as big news, bigger actually than that they fired Marty.

Where does Marty go now?

I would think they'd try to talk Petey Carrol into it.

San Diego would be the perfect place for Parcells only if AJ Smith was canned.

I would not be surprised. BP supposedly lobbied for Wade to get the hire in Dallas. There's got to be other stuff going on behind the scenes, the Chargers aren't this inept.
