Is Sander's expected to be out next week when we play in Indy? I hope so. Obviously the defensive player of the year will make a big difference if he plays.

He's overrated, and shouldnt have been DPOTY... That should have been Jared Allen.

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

He may play next week, but even if he does, how close to 100% will he be? He is coming off a high ankle sprain and a separate knee surgery. Sanders probably won't be nearly as effective as he is at 100%.

Besides, knowing the Colts, he may miss another month eventhough he is supposed to be back this weekend.

Oh, I don't think he's overrated, he may be made of glass, but he's a hell of a football player.

Heh, he's only made of glass because of the devestating hits he delivers. Guy would look great opposite Meriweather with a Flying Elvis on his helmet.

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

Agreed. I'd love to have him on the team, minus the injuries. But, That will never happen so I have my candle in the window lit for Ed Reed.

    Re: Bob Sander's prognosis?

Agreed Sanders changes Colts D but he's a cheap player. He spears with his helmet all the time even when the other player is just about down.

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

I disagree. The one or two big plays he makes in a game coverup the numerous plays where he is caught out of position or over-pursuing.

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

I don't know how anyone let alone PATRIOTS FANS could doubt Sander's abilities or call him cheap (considering we've had rodney for so many years) Sanders (when healthy) is the best safety in the league, have you all forgotten the 06 play offs? Luckily he's made of glass

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

The guy makes a ton of tackles inside the box that stop what other wise would be a long run. He completely changes the defensive complexion of that team.

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

Ok, but you are not going to find a lot of folks that will go along with that, I'm sure it happens - as it happens to all players from Time to Time, but as much as I hate the Colts and as big a HOMER I am for the Patriots, Bob Sanders is one of the best defensive players in the league when he's healthy. The ONLY Saftey I'd put above Sanders is Ed Reed, that dude is amazing.

We can agree to disagree. :)

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

100%, he completely changes the Indy defense when he's in.

I would imagine if you asked all the WR in the league who they would NOT want in coverage, the list would be Sanders, Reed and Harrison.

All of them hit like it's their last hit ever.

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

Sanders, Reed, Polamalu their all good and I would love to have any one of the - no need to debate.

MNF just said Sanders "expects" to return next week...figures.

He's overrated. Great defender of the run but isn't very good in coverage.

Two yrs ago he was injured for 6 wks, came off the injury list to play against us, and went back on the injury list til the play-offs. Count on him being there.

I think if you look at the game it's implications - none really - Then look at the fact that Indy is now is a huge hole they need to dig out of to get to the play-offs, if I was Dungy there is no way I would play my best defensive player and risk him getting hurt again - Which is GOING to happen because Sanders is made of glass.

It was different two years ago. The Colts and Pats were clear division winners that year and the Colts needed that game for seeding in the playoffs. This game isn't the same thing. This game is no more important to the Colts than any other conference game.

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

The highest number of solo tackles Sanders has ever made in a season is 71; which put him just inside the top 20 (for DB's) in the league last season (18th to be exact).

The guy is living off of a big 2006 post-season. One great post season, and the occasional big play and chest pound, does not make him the best safety in the NFL (as one poster crowned him). That's just ridiculous. The guy is a liability in coverage and bites (hard) on the PA more than just about any other star DB I have seen in the last few years. Brady and Moss pimped him like a $2 crack ho, going down the stretch in the game against Indy last season.

    Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

I can't argue with numbers, but I will say this: if a defender has a finger on a guy when he is brought down he is credited with an assisted tackle today. And a lot of his tackle come inside the box where the LB's are and those LB's miss a lot of tackles.

I also think that has something to do with him biting on play action especially in potential running scenarios. He is often dropping back into coverage from the box, so he is already out of position. When he plays deep center his speed gets him to the ball fast and if memory serves me correctly he has a pick or two against us.

I hope he's healthy. Otherwise Colts fans will be whining, but Bob was out! Just as Rams fans whined, we woulda kicked your butt if Jackson were healthy! I want to beat them at their best. But I can't control that. Injuries are part of the game. There are no excuses. We don't have Brady, but our Pats still have to play the games.

In all likelihood Bob is going to play. He wanted to play in the Titans game. This game is big for the Colts. I don't know if it's an absolute must win, but a loss cripples their playoffs hopes. So, I'd count on him being there.

The guy is a difference maker with their defense. Even if he isn't making the play, the offense knows he's out there and has to plan for him, receivers with alligator arms are not uncommon. Plus you have to factor in the lift he provides to his teammates. The guys in front of him generally play better when he is out there.

I don't get this made of glass carp either. Ya the dude is hurt more than I would like to see, but that's because he always gives it 100%. He goes full bore, laying his body on the line as he hits like a freight train.

"I don't get this made of glass carp either."

Really? The dude has never played a full season. He gets hurt all the time.

In 2006, he played 4 games -2004, 6 games - Last year, he almost made it at 15 games.

So if you put pen and paper to it, he's played in 57% of the regular season games since he's entered the league. I mean, Please - I know you are a Colts Homer and all and I think Sanders is one of the best around, but the dude is made of glass.

Perhaps you were talking about the fish, Carp. In that case, I don't get it either.
