The Associated Press: Black lawmakers grow impatient with White House

When you have hope, you are disappointed. A dream is still a dream. When you wake up, nothing happens.

These black sheeps finally see the truth of Obama.

Very touchy subject, the PC people are already starting to scratch themselves wondering what to do.

Not really. It's a political group attempting to represent the interests of their constituents. I don't know what they expect Obama to do to combat unemployment that would apply distinctly to blacks.

The title of this thread is just weird, though.

It is best not to feed the trolls, even though they do not go away... the personna exemplified here is much different than the one portrayed on the main board...

They supported Obama with the hope that Obama will remember them. In the end, Obama used them. Opps.

I remember a youtube video which showed a black woman who claimed that Obama would give her this and that and pay her bills. Does anybody remember????

Perhaps they are suprised that BO's policies have drinven unemployment so high in minority communities. Balck have had more job losses (in terms of %) than the rest of the country.

Don't know why this sort of pork has never helped job growth.

Which of his policies, specifically, have driven unemployment higher in minority communities?

Massive deficit spending combined with the uncertainty cause by the proposed governemnt healthcare system which will dramitically impact employer cost, this will lead to less hiring of lower skilled & entry level workers, check the unemployment for black males between 18-24 to see what I mean.

The prevailing consensus is that said deficit spending has kept unemployment from being higher than it currently is, so that argument doesn't wash.

As for the health care costs, that's simply speculation on your part.

I actually fully agree with this post. What is he going to do, have a "blacks only" fund? There is no way he could get away with that. Just because the man is black is irrelevant to what policies he "should" pass or propose.

"If" there are groups of African Americans who understandably thought, "Our time has come"....they were right & wrong. Yes, the very act of electing the first African-American president showed us "it was about time", but just because he's our president, no one should expect that he'll create programs for black Americans or increase funding for programs that target this demographic group any more than past presidents.

Once a person becomes POTUS, their race or sex doesn't matter.

So why has unemployment risen the most among young black males?

Which prevailing consensus are you talking about the DNCC? :singing:

The prevailing consensus was that the pork package would keep the unemployment < 8% how'd that work out

Just because the stimulus may have prevented unemployment from being higher than it is now does not infer this spending was the right thing to do.

What people are missing is that our problems stem directly from DEBT. First, it was in the private sector and among our citizens. Now it has spread to all levels, including federal, state & local gov'ts.

We still have WAVES of bad loans that will result in further debt. Commercial real estate is verging upon collapse. WHEN that happens, more jobs will be lost...hundreds of thousands of them.

Let's use one prime example....MALLS. Our "Mall" capacity is WAY above demand. The current number of malls were built to support the economy and spending habits of 2005 when Americans were spending more than they made each year.

    They did that because:

    1. Increasing value of their homes
    2. Easy credit
    3. Optimism

None of the above will return and hundreds of malls are going to close. There is one near me that I think will close....the Silver City Galleria in Taunton, MA. The place is a ghost town everytime I go there.

My point is, the only "Good" money our gov't can spend are projects that will result in permanent change, not jobs that last 6-12 months.

Did The Stimulus Stimulate? - Forbes.com

You do understand the difference between predicting the future (specifically a metric that historically has proven incredibly difficult to predict) and judging the efficacy of a policy after the fact?

I don't think you'll find many serious economists who agree with that statement.

Argument from ignorance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also, by your argument Reagan's policies are equally fallible.

As usual, things are not as simple as you would have us think, PF13.

Nowhere in there do I see fault found in government policy.

We have all been waiting patiently to see who is getting political payback for the meteoric rise of Barry. Unfortunately, those black groups are way down on the totem pole they just didn't get the memo. You see Barry has to make sure he repays his buddies on Wall St. then he can take care of the insurance industry with health care reform. Oh and let's not forget backing up the defense industry, more troops good for business. America didn't vote in a black man, they voted in a chameleon. So those black folks are going to have to wait a while.
