Top 15 likely as things currently stand. Top 10 is always a bit of a gamble, especially this far out.

But as much as I like Werner - and I've been following him for a while - I think that his teammate Cornelius "Tank" Carradine may end up being better. Carradine has just as much power and strength, is a bit more fluid in space, and is bigger. He would make a tremendous bookend to Chandler Jones.

Dion Jordan will be the Bruce Irvin of the 2013 NFL Draft.

    #24 Jersey

Or the Chandler Jones. Don't forget, Chandler Jones was being talked of as a 3rd rounder, even as late as January.

I think Tank Carradine will do a Chandler Jonese-esque rise up draft boards. I think Dion Jordan is a unique player - I'm hoping that his uniqueness will hurt rather than help his draft stock, as most teams won't know what to do with him or how to categorize him.

I think a 3-4 team will snap him up as an OLB - seems like a perfect fit. The hope would rest on the number of rushers potentially available - the depth goes right in to the second round with the likes of Lemonier, Chase Thomas, Michael Buchanan and of course Carradine. You need to hope that ALL the Juniors declare so that GM's are picking from the most abundant buffet possible.

By the by, just been watching FSU/ Clemson - falling further in love with Carradine. He plays the run and the edge beautifully as well as having a good pass rush, particularly by using his long arms. Actually starting to wonder whether he might be better than Chandler Jones. It might come down to the combine but to me, Carradine's tape is better than I considered Jones'.

You already know that I agree with you about Carradine, of course.

And here's hoping your hope for Jordan's projections comes to be!! :rocker:

My GrandMother's Tape is better than Jones'!! [IMG]

Let's be real, now: Jones rose based on Tape we didn't get to see, on Coach's testimony, on a great Combine, and on other information that we simply aren't privy to. He did not rocket up through the ranks based on that awful Tape that the likes of us ~ and those clowns on TeleVision ~ had access to: Based on that crap, he was Day 3 ~ UFA material.

It was surreal, listening to that donkey on the Draft Show ~ whoever it was. Mayock?? I hope not ~ prattle on about Jones doing this and that "in the video" and showing such Burst and Explosion and all, while the camera showed him doing nothing but stumbling and bumbling, stiffly and straight up...

As all ought know long before now, Jones was working his way back from injury last year ~ hence his awful Tape.

But leave us not use that horrible footage as a point of comparison, I beg of you!! [IMG]

Right now NFL Draftscout has Carradine and Jordan as their #10 and #11 DE prospects, both rated as 2nd/3rd round picks. Carradine is ranked 66 overall, Jordan 75. There are several guys ahead of them who I don't think will be as good pros (John Simon, Michael Buchanon, Alex Okafor), so there's definitely room for them to move up.

ESPN's Kevin Weidl and Steve Muench discuss Bjoern Werner and Tank Carradine:

NFL Draft Blitz: Florida St. Defensive Ends - ESPN Video - ESPN

They predict both will be top 40 picks, which seems fairly reaosnable the way things are currently going. I personally like Carradine's length, size, flexibility and upside.

Werner will very likely go much earlier in the draft, making Carradine a lot more affordable with ever more potential upside. I just hate the fact that there's this much buzz about him, I want him to be double teamed every play for the rest of the season. Carradine, Jesse Williams, Dion Jordan, Michael Williams, ect, I want all of them, I just dont know how we'll have the draft capital to get them.

Think we all know we can't get them all plus, trading out of round 1 might be the best to get more picks speciealy for round 2. ( 3-4 picks there would be nice! )

Anyone considering tradeing Ryan Mallet, before ppl blame, We have Tom and he'll play longern then the 2 years, he got left on this contract ( hopefully and specially if the run the ball alot more as it looks ) and i doubt Ryan would resign he's contract then.

We'll get some more picks and next year draft a new QB to learn from Tom, could be AJ McCarron ??

You must be reading my mind, I don't like Mallett at all, don't think he has what it takes to consistently succeed in the league. I'd be all over trading him to free up some capital to invest in the previously mentioned. AJ McCarron, aside from his horrible tattoo, is exactly the kind of QB I'd like to mold behind TFB.

I LOVE McCarron. He's the perfect TB understudy to me, and I'd be thrilled to get him and to get something significant for Mallett. But it's just wishful thinking right now, unless Mallett does something to prove some trade value.

    No Jersey Selected

Someone brought up the idea of smoking these guys up prior to the draft. Then we could just trade back into the 4th round and pick them all up while loading up on future draft picks.

As I see the season right now, our most pressing needs involve a pass rusher and Offensive Linemen. Now given that the best pass rushers will be off the board early, I am all for trading out of the first round and picking up extra picks in rounds two and three.

I think we can pick up a pass rusher like Devan Taylor of SC and one of any number good solid zone blocking O-linemen in the second and third round.

If BB prioritizes drafting a developmental WR early, then it gets tricky because I think Brady has serious trust issues when it comes to who he throws the ball.

This draft is has a lot of good safeties if BB decides to go that route in round two as well.

Bottom line is we do not need to stay in the first, we can get extra picks and multiple decent players in rounds two and three of this draft via the trade route.

    Great post.

I agree. I've had DL and OL as my top 2 priorities for a while. A trade of our first for a 2nd and 3rd was suggested in one of the threads, and that seems reasonable. This will be a deep draft. Of course, it all depends on who is available when we pick.

Some good prospects will slip to day 2 and even day 3. Guys like Devin Taylor and William Gholston could be good value picks later on. They have the length, size, and raw physical skills. They have been inconsistent in their play, but the talent is there. There should be several solid OL prospects available day 2 and even day 3.

I'm not a fan of drafting WR early, for a number of reasons, the one you listed among them. I could see possibly taking a guy like Tavon Austin day 2, but not taking anyone earlier than that.

Yup. If the right guys are sitting there for us I'm fine grabbing them, but there's no need to reach. There are going to be a lot of options available in this draft, and the Pats will be in a position to not have to reach.
