BJGE to hit the open market

Good, even though I like him, the team really needs to move on from this guy. Give Ridley/Vereen their chances to take the starting spot.

He fumbled twice. :bricks:
Ridley fumbled more than twice. He recovered at least one of his fumbles. It may have been Buffalo @ Foxboro.

So, in 87 carries, Ridley put the ball on the ground at least 3 times - every 29 carries with a very light workload. So, what happens if the Pats increase his workload? Nothing will prompt BB sit him down faster than fumbling.

He fumbled in a pre-season game. Statistically, that does not count.

The more important point is that Ridley was a rookie and defenses caught on to the fact that he has a fundamental issue in how he protects the football.

That's a terrific point, and explains why Kevin Faulk was never long for this team.

Faulk cleaned up his fumbling and blocking problems as a 3rd down situational player. Is that what Ridely is?

Youre hilarious though.

You cant wait to see BJGE hit the highway, but like to drive the Ocho Stinko bandwagon. Your previous bandwagons: Bultler, Maroney, Chad Jackson. It doesnt look good for Stinko.

Im pretty sure he fumbled in a regular season game but got the ball back.

Yes, youre right, will teams go after him because of his ball security.

He fumbled in 3 straight games. BUF, MIA and the playoff game vs DEN.

He fumbled OOB vs BUF, he recovered and others did vs MIA and he lost one vs DEN

I forget who he fumbled vs in pre season.

No, but Faulk showed that fumbling issues can be mollified through effort and coaching.

Unsurprising that you would conflate "bandwagoning" with rejecting unwarranted or unfair criticism, given that you've never done anything to indicate reading comprehension is in your wheelhouse. As far as BJGE goes, if you could read, you'd know based on my previous statements that I'm ambivalent whether he stays or goes, but firm in the conviction that he should not be this team's RB1 next season.

Hopefully that clears things up for you.

I don't seeing the Pats paying more than $3m annually for BJGE. In my opinion, BJGE will be playing somewhere else next season.

I don't know--$3M seems like a lot. It's rare that a running back is more productive over the life of his second contract than his rookie contract. CMart, Jerome Bettis, Marshal Faulk. Who are the others?

I think it's too much. Per NESN, two teams are pursuing him right now, but the Patriots do want him back. Price thinks $3-4m but I would be surprised if he commands that much. Hopefully his agent is holding out for security not dollars.

BJGE for $3M/year would be a great deal for both sides IMO. I remember one of Faulk's contracts averaged more than that as a 3rd down specialist and the market nowadays would normally require alot more for someone who gets as many touches as BJGE.

I love the potential of Ridley/Vereen from what I've seen of them but neither are proven yet, it's a risk to depend on either at this point.

The highest Faulk made was $2.9m in '09. But putting into perspective that he was basically a 3rd down back, you may have a point there.

My money is on Vereen getting a lot more touches if BJGE leaves via free agency. They will bring in an experienced vet for insurance. Ridley needs to show BB that he can hold on to the ball.

And, by limited opportunities to fumble. A 3rd down back is all he is/was.

Seriously, player evaluations are not your strong suit. Ocho is a dead man walking with you in his corner.

Your memory is good, but very short.

You just said "addition by subtraction" The team is better off without BJGE according to you. Ridley is ready though.

Hopefully that clears things up for you.

It does. BJGE needs to be back for 2012.

So you agree with my point. Terrific.

This is a non sequitur. Please learn to read.

It's true, with respect to the RB1 position, unless both Ridley and Vereen bust out. Which, I'm sure you'll agree, is unlikely. As for depth, that depends on what the Patriots do in FA/the draft.

It does. BJGE needs to be back for 2012.

Apparently BB disagrees.

I am going to be pissed if the pats let him walk

It's a David Givens situation, IMO, albeit with a somewhat lesser player. Congrats to him if he can make more money elsewhere, and I'd expect him to be a class act on his way out the door if he does.

Recall that Givens unfortunately turned out to be super-right to have chosen the best financial deal, as he quickly suffered a career-ending injury.

ya, resign him for a 1 year deal..

Ridley looks to be a more "dynamic" back...but his ball security issues scare me having him possibly be the #1 back next year...pluss, Benny is good at getting those hard yards.

honestly, I cant see BJGE being all to successful on another team as the Pats...he gets alot of yards with us because
1. The pats throw alot so they arent clogging the box as much
2. our O-line are excellent blockers
