I believe Bill and Tiger have the exact same career goals . . . and it is NOT to have a perfect season or win many super bowls.
When asked what his #wins goal was Tiger responded by saying his goal was not to win championships but rather "to be the best that ever played the game".
I think Bill thinks the exact same way. His goal is to be the best football coach ever in history. To take a line from Lexus, Bill is on a journey for "The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection." With this maniacal focus on executing plays to perfection the Wins are simply a statistical validation of the progress. Same is true for Tiger. He wants to own his swing and be able to hit perfect shots that no one else can even dream of hitting. His Wins also take care of themselves.
If you look at the Pats as trying to play "perfect football" for a full 60 minutes every game then you don't see them running up the score but simply driving themselves to strive for a perfect game.
This season is not about running up the score or having no class . . . it is about the pursuit for playing perfect football.
Barring any significant injury to Brady do not be surprised to see the Pats run the table this year and try for it again next. As Pats fans we are all privileged to be witnessing the pursuit. Can we ever ask for anything more?
