Belichick: Vollmer Not Placed on IR Because of 'How Good' He Is
    By: Ian Logue

It's not often you hear such high praise from head coach Bill Belichick when it comes ot an individual player, but he had some kind words for offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer on Thursday....

    No Jersey Selected

Cool article. Such a tough call sometimes on IR'ing people. Hasn't Koppen been ready to play for a few weeks now?

We're in a funny position here. With Solder available at TE, we can ration Gronk a bit in pass protection and with the great addition of Waters plus Cannon and Vollmer, we could rotate linemen and power rush BJ right at the undersized line of the Giants and beat them to a pulp for a bit and really soften up that pass rush. Hell, run him with Polite a while too.

It's what someone said BB wanted to do, but couldn't in 2007 because our line with injured Neal and our inconsistent Maroney didn't get it done.

I can't imagine how much they'd need to overplay, even if we only sent one or two receivers we could break someone wide open too.

The potential is there, that's all I'm saying. A matchup nightmare for the Giants.

Two TE set with Gronk (or Hernandez) and Solder. Welker on the left, Ocho on the right (I'm sorry, but teams still need to respect him), with BJGE in the backfield.

You can power run with that formation big-time, but you could also go play-action deep with Ocho, and you still have four options for receivers (Welker, Ocho, Gronk/Hernandez, BJGE) even without Solder going out for a pass.

That's a set that has a lot of options, that could really cause some damage.

    Exactly!

Gronk simply falls down forward and we gain 2 yards!

I don't think Sea Bass gets the respect he deserves around here. Peter King had him as his 2nd team all pro RT last year. I remember that stretch of games where he went against; Woodley, Mathis, Avril,
, Jets Monday Nighter and Idoneje. He was awesome. GB comes in and blitzes Clay Matthews a couple of plays and he just stones him. GB took Matthews off of the LOS and had him roam around after that. Has filled in at LT when Light was hurt. I went to the Philly game this year. The one he got hurt. He was going against Babin until he got hurt. I was trying to watch him. Babin would line up in that exaggerated low stance and try to turn the corner underneath him. Seabass just buried him into the turf when he tried that on him.

I doubt we see the 2010 Sea Bass on Sunday. But, he is light years ahead of Marcus Cannon at this point and might be able to help in short yardage and the unbalanced sets. Heck, he can catch punts too(NFL Films documentary on Belichick)!

I hate to post this but I could be THE guy who screwed the pooch for this game.
I'm out to dinner at a fish restaurant earlier tonight. Waitress recommends the Sea Bass. I say no and end up ordering Tuna. Get my drift? Dunno what this means.

Limited receivers and i'm using a guy who can't even figure out the offense? I don't think so.

Couldn't agree more with this idea, especially inside the enclosed stadium. In the back of my mind all week I've been thinking about the heat factor that came into play in the AFC Championship Game in 2007, and also in Super Bowl XXXVIII (the one in Houston against the Panthers). If the Pats can get some power running going, and keep the game close in the first and third quarters, I like their chances to go to the no-huddle and get some points in the second and fourth quarters against the Giants D.

I want him to replace Light at LT once Light retires.
