Yes. These guys need to put this behind them, go home, turn off the media, and regain the intensity and focus they had up until 3 weeks ago. I'm hoping we absolutely annihilate the Steelers!

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

That's interesting. I had that thought earlier today and wondered if they
could get done what they need to get done in three days, Thurs Fir and Sat.
I think it is an outstanding move by PATs if true.

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

absolutely...I thought they would need it..and NOT surprised at all...it is a short week..but they need time to recover..

It's a home game so they can actually come in and walkthrough on Saturday.

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

They do need it. Rest up guys, this is the big hump!

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

Good idea. At this stage of the season they are game ready and the older guys need to rest up. The push to the SB is just ahead for us.

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

I think it's great - for this week but also to keep them fresh for the playoffs. We're a virtual lock for the #1 seed - undefeated would RULE but playing it right heading into the playoffs is key - that means playing the starters in the games but giving them rest too.

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

I heard BB on the radio coming home saying that "we are a very, very tired team".

That was quite apparent last night.
It is quite understandable.

Then again ... so are the Steelers and all the other contenders.

I hope that merely one day off suffices to let players pop back up.

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

At his post-game PC, I recall Moss basically said he hoped BB wouldn't be too tough on the team this week in practice, that they were beat up, etc. Clearly he agreed.

I think it's different for the Patriots with all these prime time games, teams out to beat the undefeated Patriots plus a short week coming off the road. There's tired then there's very, very tired.

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

The Patriots should be much more tired than most teams in the NFL. They are one of only 3 teams to play 7 road games already (Hou, SF are the other two) and their last three games have been prime time games. Not to mention, teams are giving the Patriots all they have every week.

I hope these three straight home games will help them recover. They travel the last week of the season, but they will almost certainly have the following week off providing they win 2 of their last 4 games. I'm hoping these close games the last two weeks are more a result of the Patriots being tired, rather than teams catching up to them.

Belichick gives team 2 days off on short week

That's very good news for the Patriots and very bad news for the Steelers.
This veteran Patriot team doesn't need practice.
They need mental and physical rest and they have a coach who recognizes it and gives his team exactly what they need.
Unheard of for a coach to give his team two days off during a short week.
That's why BB is the best. :rocker:

3 Home games in a row can't hurt.....

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

It is nice that we'll be getting a first round bye. They will need that rest.

Re: Belichick gives team off tomorrow

REALLY glad to hear that. I had been hoping there would be some time off to get recharged (at least a bit).

He came right out and said that "this is a tired football team"

I was a bit surprised, but indeed it's showing.

Lots of night games, and I don't care what the talking heads say, there is definately pressure going for the perfect season that's taking a toll.

hopefully pats take advantage, and then dominate for the rest of the season
