Little story about the two from last year's pro bowl, just another goody about our coach. Stolen from Patriots Planet:

Because he didn't block on special teams in a game that everyone on this board doesn't want any Patriots to play in because it's completely meaningless? Right.

u still wanna win the pro bowl..if not QBs should just launch passes deep..players should lateral every play, try 70 yard FGs..RBs should just try to juke the whole D out and the D shouldnt even sprint

And I believe that spin. Gonzalez would probably never have told the story (which obviously came from him) if he didn't think BB was in the right.

To be fair, if that killed his career; it probably wouldn't have lasted long anyways as he was probably one awkward falldown away from the same injury anyways

Is it just me or does Gonzalez come off looking like a b!tch for saying "How dare you speak to me like that?"

That's what makes the Pats so good. They have superstars (read: Pro-Bowlers) but BB does not allow them to act like it or have that prima donna mentality.

heres another twist..its a pro bowl..and u miss your assignment. the returnman is the 1 getting because u couldnt block or didnt attempt to. so its meaningless to you when ur not gettign the ball but that means someone else is and your letting them get hit

If Robert Edwards had never suffered that injury, one that would've ended most careers, I believe he would've had a very solid career with the Patriots.

and he probably would love to have BB as his coach right now, instead of.....
In this vein ( and not trying to hijack the thread) I wonder how many other players would love to play for BB and after this year are willing to take less than maximum money to make it happen......

    Re: Belichick and Tony Gonzalez

Completely meaningless is a little much. There is a matter of pride that motivates some, and the money difference between winner/loser is enough to let the player break even with family friend hotel bill.

So it may be completely meaningless to us, but not to them.

But you had the reason yourself: a TE who cannot block is not Patriots material. Neither is a guy who doesn't care if he wins or loses.
