Bears sign Lance Briggs
March 1, 2008
BY BRAD BIGGS

The Bears might have lost Bernard Berrian, but it didn't take them long to land their other major free agent.

Three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs has agreed to a $36 million, six-year contract to remain with the organization.

This, hours after wide receiver Bernard Berrian signed a $42 million, six-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

Check back for more details.

Sounds like he sold himself short about $1-2M per year

he only wanted 6mil a year?

what was the holdup?

that's funny... after all the crap last year and this year and now he signs for 6 years, 6 mil a year.

I'm glad i don't have to hear about him whining about money on chicago radio anymore.

Can you believe it? Only 6 years 36 million?

This might be the first semi-reasonable contract signed so far in free agency.

The money being thrown out there by other teams for average players is completely ridiculous.

Good for the Bears. Briggs fit far better in the Bears' system anyway. Briggs is a Tampa 2 WLB. I know people wanted him here, but his style of play really didn't fit our style.

I had the exact same reaction... gimme a break!

briggs is an excellent LB in the bears system, he could have demanded more money i would think...

but yup, first reasonable contract so far (donte's was reasonable as well)

Wow, the fact they worked it out and for THAT price? Lucky.
