Breaking News! Somebody is interested in the best pass rushing FAs in the market!

FWIW, Colvin and AD were both considered in the top 2 or 3 available FAs when we signed them.

That's safe to say. Especially since this is one of the weaker UFA classes in a while. If you want a player, you will need to trade for them.

Also, it's still not certain Peppers would be a good fit here if he wants to play OLB. Why shell out all the cash if you're not sure if he'll succeed.

Thing is Kraft is a major player in wanting a new cBA and pretending their all hurting for money. Cant see them spending much in FA.

Plus the bears dont have a 1 or a 2 in the draft. They need fa to improve.

I forgot about that. While many people complain about us continually trading down and sometimes out of the 1st round, imagine not having a first OR second because you shipped them off for a QB... who delivered you a 7-9 season.

Really?!? You mean the same Bob Kraft who said that an uncapped year gives a competitive advantage to a team with money like the Patriots? I've got news for you. There aren't going to be many or any teams spending freely this offseason if there is no CBA. Most of the league are in far worse financial shape than the Patriots and many of them will be more interested in shedding salaries than adding them.

The Pats have one of the lowest payrolls in the league right now and will spend since they have tons of room to spend to even get close to their average payroll. It might not be for Peppers, but they will be active this offseason. Their payroll is currently around $65 million and they haven't had a payroll lower than $92 million since 2004.

Safe to say that the lion's share of the difference will go to some combination of Brady+Wilfork+TBC+Bodden+Draft picks, but I do agree with your point.

Moss isn't getting traded. If he does get traded, I would recommend that someone check to make sure that BB didn't switch bodies with Jerry Glanville.

Im hoping Pats are on the top of Peppers list since he did say he wants to play OLB in a 34 system.

Yeah, but the most they have spent in payroll during that time period was about $60 million more than what they have already booked to payroll. So based on the low end payroll estimates, they will attribute most to those guys, but the high end will still have quite a bit of room to be active in free agency. That is before they cut or trade Adalius Thomas and a few other players not likely to return.

I sure hope that you are right about Adalius Thomas. The guy is like a black hole in the locker room.
