That's awful. I think it would have been even more effective if they contrasted the happy things the Dems do with what the Republicans would do instead.

"Democrats make sure we share our toys like mommy does."

"Republicans steal your toys and make you eat sandbox sand." (Illustration of a squirrel with Nixon's face kicking sand and laughing at the crying squirrel children, "Mwa Ha Ha!")

"Sometimes the Earth feels a little sick. Democrats make the Earth feel better again."

"Rebublicans make sure the Earth stays sick and gets worse." (Illustration of Cheney taking a dump on the Earth, emptying a trash can on it, and smiling.)

This would bother me if it was required reading in elementary school.

It would make me vomit if it were required reading for high school.:p

Hah, I just noticed what the children are being kept "safe" from, elephants! Good one there. Of course showing the Republican squirrel allowing the children to be squished to death would be better. Maybe a little "POP!" sound effect coming from underfoot as goo leaks out.

Didn't OReilly write a children's book? You can probably start and end your search there!

(edit) OK here's a silly right wing book to even out the ridiculousness.

But, NEMster, it's what so many in the "new" Dem party want: a "One Party" system, the Dems and ONLY the Dems. It is what it is, shameful.

How about a world of one big family under God!! No more nations, no more religions, no more races, no more reasons to fight. I could go for that!!

That's pretty funny. I don't see anything wrong with it for those people who subscribe to traditional Democratic values as an ideology. What's the difference between giving kids a book and telling them why one set of values is better than another? Parents indoctrinate their kids. Most kids have values that are built on those taught to them by their parents. What's the difference between giving a kid a book like that, or giving them a children's book on creationism. At least the book teaches kids to believe in something, rather than books like the one Stokes posted that teach kids to oppose something. But, I don't see anything wrong with that either, unless you think parents shouldn't share their values with their kids.

Yeah ... looking at it that way I'll give you that...it beats MTV for 7 year olds and it certainly beats those stupid Fox channel soap opera shows.
