When the Patriots threw incomplete on third and 2, Belichick had already decided the Patriots would go for it on fourth. But a couple of players on the punt team trickled on to the field, and offensive players who saw them started running off. The play forced the Patriots to call their final timeout, which would prevent them from challenging the spot after Kevin Faulk's catch on fourth down.

"That wasn’t cleanly handled," Belichick said. "I’ll take responsibility."
Quite interesting that they didnt think it was a 4 down thing before the 3rd down play

Re: BB press conf today

Bill's press conferences are like watching a blank screen He never says anything that he considers relevant. Instant turn off. Great coach lousy in public relations.

He's not here to make Coors Light commercials.

You can almost sense that he was upset with not making it on third down, that his impulses told him to do it again.

in the poker world you call that "steaming"

If he already KNEW he was going for it on 4rd down; they should have run it on 3rd down and at worse it would have been 4th and 1.
Water under the bridge now.
