I look at this draft and I see offensive size and i see RUN

BB has had enough of putting each and every game on Brady's shoulders. When he sucks (Jets away, Browns away, Jets playoff) we have nothing to fall back on. Now we do

If teams dare us to run, then we stack the line with 2 huge tackles, 3 massive TE options, 4 RB's and we run it down their damn throats, all day long

I look at this draft and I see ball control, I see us having way more options to run clock

I see Rexy coaching a great game in the playoffs but when TB/BB start seeing 7 DB's we have a game for that

Our whole offensive philosophy is changing. We did it last year with the 2xTE's and now were doing it again

BOB must be one happy man

Makes sense. The coaches did say that they wanted to change the offense this year.

No matter if you run the ball or pass it, it will always be in the hands of the quarterback..

All this does is balance the offense, and provide more choices/depth. TB will always be the leader and key guy of this offense.

I agree with most of this. However I see this team more like the 2009 Saints than the 1990 Giants.

The Steelers have been one of the most successful franchises and they have ALWAYS been run, run, run

I would love for the Pats to go that way and control the clock

You control the clock and you don't have as much to worry about with pass rush

I still would love a smash mouth type back on his team in the near future,I don't think Vereen is that type......maybe in FA

Pssst. BB's one step ahead of you. The guy's name is Stevan Ridley.

    #12 Jersey

I hope he is that guy

This type of offense requires gritty interior offensive lineman. The team and Mankins need to come to an agreement on a long-term deal once this lock-out is over. And with the team not drafting a guard in the top 3 rounds, this scenario seems evermore likely.

While a more balanced offense will be helpful, the games will never be taken out of Brady's hands as long as he's the NE QB. Whoever takes the games out of his hands deserves to be unemployed.

If the game was out of his hands against the Jets in last years playoff game and we were more reliant on the run,we might have pulled that one out.

Brady needs the run more consistently in the playoffs,he can't and won't do it on his own anymore because our defense can't get it done in January the past few years and its too much for one guy to handle.

Mankins has to be the priority now. Having him (and possibly Cannon) on the interior OL would really have this group shaping up as real Road Graders if you factor in the MASSIVE Vollmer and Solder. Koppen is the weakest link in that chain and I think that he's on the block next year one way or another. Look out...the Patriots are getting back to Big, Strong, Mean and NASTY!

    oh my goodness.

    A better RUN game

    helps the Passing game.

we r not taking it "out of his hands"

we r helping him by having new running weapons when he has the ball in his hands:cool::cool::cool:

Can't wait to see the first time the pats line up with 3 TE all who can catch and 2 RB who also can catch lined up behind Soldier,Mankins,Koppen,Cannon, and Vollmier.

He's not taking it out of Brady's hands. He's keeping the ball out of the opponents' hands late in the game once Brady has already gotten a lead.

we absolutely need Mankins he is detrimental to the success of Brady's protection

The Colts have spent first round draft picks on running backs several times during the Peyton Manning era. I don't think anyone considers that taking the ball out of his hands.

I don't see this being any different. The running game was not where it needed to be, so the Patriots are fixing it. I really don't see anything more than that here.

another thread just made light of the fact that the final 4 teams and their edge pass rushing bookends. an effective running game makes those guys no better than cunningham and ninko......just sayin'.....

its not taking the ball out of brady's hands at all.....its giving him options. its giving the offense a chance to not have to run out of the shotgun and have a real play action mean something.

one could argue that the only reason solder was drafted was his advanced pass pro skills over the others which made him the only real option as an LT

Throw some love to Matt Light. Mankins isn't the only star linemen to re-sign for the team.

It is definitely a step towards reducing our over-reliance on Brady. He has been single-handedly carrying this team for several years now. Put Brady on any of the other playoff teams and they will instantly become super-bowl favourites, he is that good. But as a team, it is definitely not a good place to be in.

We are sorely missing playmakers all over the rest of the team. In 2007 when we did have playmakers, we were amazing. Then our playmakers started dropping like flies and Brady is the only one standing along with Wilfork. My main worry is that we have been unable to put true playmakers on this team. Last year was great in that we added McCourty who is genuine quality and the TE duo. This year, hopefully Solder and Dowling will follow, and with luck we get a solid RB combo.

All this makes our team a lot more robust. Anything we can do to add more genuine playmakers is good - be it draft or free agency, offense or defense. We definitely could use a superlative receiver, to simply use Brady to the max potential. Oh moss.... what happened to you :(
