It's pretty straightforward. We don't need any conspiracy theories. December is the time when the running game becomes valuable, as the wind, cold, and snow can slow the passing game. BB knows this, and was resting Maroney and letting him heal up. He figured that this game with the Eagles would probably be relatively easy, so opted for a one-dimensional game plan that put as little stress on Maroney as possible. He clearly miscalculated both the talent and heart that the Eagles showed (as most of us did), but I think the general idea of resting Maroney is a sound one. A healthy-as-possible Maroney will be very important in the cold months to come, particularly with our thin RB situation.
