But what am I missing? Everyone knows that the Pats poor play on defense last season can be directly linked to the lack of a pass rush yet he did nothing to address it. If Jerry Hughes turns out to be good, I'm going to be pissed. Do you think once the regular season starts, exotic blitz packages used far more often will be employed to hide the weakness. It seemed to work a little against the Saints. Without some kind of pressure, I don't see more than 9 wins. Color me concerned.
I think McCourty and Gronk and Spikes will far exceed anything Hughes does. I think all 3 of those players will be better than Hughes. Cunningham will need a few years but the 3 I mentioned will not. They will contribute this year in a big way. Also Cunningham is bigger and faster than Hughes with the potential to add more weight and become a part time DE which Hughes could never be for us.
