BB Could be 1st $10 mil coach

as others have stated he could be making 10M now for all we know. top coaches are like top players: you can never pay them too much. Jordan was worth 30M. peyton is worth 15M (he'd be worth 30M in a non-cap league). A-Rod was worth 25M as long as a team could afford him (Texas couldn't). The Belichick/Pioli combo is easily worth 20M. Yeah it's nice to sell out every game and win championships while making a boatload of money in the process, but if you have to pay a player or coach big money while selling out every game and winning championships and only making a lot of money it's still worth it.

The problem is that this extends to the non-greats. Michael Vick gets paid 10M+/yr. Alphonso Soriano gets 18M for 7 years. A guard who can sink 3s but can't defend or penetrate gets paid the league maximum. this happens because teams hope the player can develop into what they're already paying him for (Vick) or teams pay them for unsustainable performance (Soriano).

Only a select few players or coaches are worth the big money yet the big money gets extended to only good or very good players/coaches. I love the Patriots because they understand this and pay the best players what they're worth while not paying the good players more than they're worth.

It will be interesting to see how the Red Sox ruin the best Line-up and Rotation they've had in years.

Don't disrespect the '03 lineup, which I would take over this year's lineup any day. Trot was a league top 10 offensive player that year and Bill Mueller put up an OPS of .938 and an OPS+ of 140 out of the 9 whole (that was his batting title year). Tek was younger and Manny and Ortiz were doing their thing (though yes Ortiz has gotten better). Nomar was healthy in '03 and while he wasn't late 90s Nomar he was still really good and better than 6 or 7 guys in this year's lineup depending on how Drew will do. The weak points of that lineup were Johnny Damon and Todd Walker (yet they were batting 1-2, whatever). There was power throughout and no easy outs. We'll never see a lineup like that one ever again.

This year does have the potential to be the best rotation of my lifetime. It could also turn into 'Matsuzaka and the injured guys.' Here's hoping for health.

True enough.

Give it to him let him finsh his NFL coaching career here and not some where else.

How can you say that? Mr Kraft forks out 3 SB rings and is doing his part to keep us competitive each year. He has stepped up every time with BB when he has needed to. What right or even evidance do you have to say that?

Why isnt Bill the highest paid coach in the league right now?....and the same goes with Pioli.
