What is it that we have to focus on most against this team next week, what do we have to take away?

I say their runnning game, and QB on 3rd downs...

Without their running game, Garrard is mediocre. If we can stop their run which is quite an if, the Jags are screwed. No way Garrard beats us through the air. Unless Hobbs gets burned a couple times or the refs try to screw us with PI.

What I'm wondering: Does Jacksonville really have a fan base? I've never heard of anyone being a Jaguars fan.

We beat the Jags by at least 2 TD's. I don't fear them in the least. We will stop the run.

Based on what we saw tonight, I would say:
Keep the run game in check.
    Pressure Garrard up the middle.
Good team tackling, as some of the Jags take more than 1 guy to bring down.

    On offense:
    Don't play like Ben Roethlisturnover.
Hit open receivers rather than take sacks.
    Exploit their secondary.

The Jags did not look good today, but they still won. If the Pats continue to avoid turnovers, they will do well.

Pressure on Gerrard. They struggled in the second half against the squeelers when they began blitzing. Their receivers are nothing special and we should be able to cover them in man.

On offense, I expect a gameplan similar to the game against the squeelers. Spread them out, some no huddle stuff. Despite all their sacks today, I was not impressed by their pass rush. It was more because of a poor squeelers offensive line and Ben holding the ball way to long.

Don't get killed on the run and always find Maurice Jones-Drew out of the backfield. Their running backs are their best receivers.

Offensively, keep the ice ready for Tom's shoulder.

It's interesting. I would say we need to be solid on offense and not let them get lucky with a fluky turnover.

We also can't let them get lucky with a bomb, they obviously should take chances, if they're smart.

Good chance to use our DLine rotation and make them work for running yards.

Short passes up the middle and solid tackling make them work for first downs.

He's not going to beat us passing unless we screw up, so I'd play it conservative and make him earn it.

If we go up enough they have to abandon the run, we throw the kitchen sink at him with different coverages and pressure.

*We could just put on Pittsburgh Jerseys during the first phase and save time*:D

Don't turn the ball over is the key. Imagine the outcome had Roethlisburger not thrown just one of those interceptions.

bit of an issue as our DBs will have to play different, they'll have to focus on taking away middle of field instead of exterior as jags dont have an exterior pass game, but that can be strong in the middle. need harrison to step up and samuel to be more in tampa-2 style

Gerrard isn't great, but generally he doesn't make big mistakes. While I agree we need to take away the run, don't forget that JAX has big receivers, which has caused us problems. Also, I'd say special teams plays is going to be important. I think there's a reason that the pundits have been saying that Jax matches up well against us.

Hating to be Captain Obvious, after watching that game the only things that concern me are :

    - Allowing big plays in the running or return game.
    - Their big WR on our smaller DB.
    - Turnovers.

    Other than that, nothing.

My God, Gerrard was 9/21 and Rothlisberger was a majestic 29/42-337; other than two stupid INT (the first was a pretty good D play), Ben had his way with Jax like a millionaire with a whore. Tommy won't make the same mistakes.

Oh, this will be their 3rd straight road game too.

    Stroud on IR.
Henderson out or hobbled with a hammy.
I can't see how the Pats score under 35...

I thought we would of totally destroyed Pittsburg, so that's why I was rooting for them today. With the running game of Jax, the one 2 punch of Drew/Taylor it's going to be hard to eliminate the run. If we can just keep it to a mininum and give Jax a lot of 3rd and longs we will be fine. 3rd and long ( if the 12th man does it's job) Jax won't last.

They're dead last in terms of popularity according to an annual Harris Interactive poll which quizzes NFL fans.

This and their stadium situation makes them leading contenders to move to Los Angeles.

Unlike the Steelers half our OL is not on IR, all of our WRs and RBs are healthy, and as far as I know our entire front seven is healthy too.
The Steelers were playing with two back up tackles and I believe the guard was a back up too. With the exception of Kaczur our guys are healthy, and I have confidence that Kaczur will be ready to play when he is needed.
Honestly, if we play our game and execute we will win the game. PERIOD.

They only thing the Jags can have success with offensively is Garrard turning a broken play into a first down or score. That's what the Pats D has trouble with.

We are pretty good at covering kicks. So I'm not worried about any returns. Our defense can take away their run game and intermediate passing game. Brady threw on them last year. Also, Maroney had a big run play against them. IOW, the Jaguars do not match up well with the Patriots.

MJD is so good he'll give our LB's trouble period. That little dude can bust out a play in a hot minute. It's honestly all about getting ahead. Take advantage of Nelson the rookie on coverage, throw some bombs and fasten up the pace, force Garrard to beat them. If the Patriots do that, Jacksonville is gonna get beat period.

If this team dicks around, Jacksonville can make this fun in a bad way. We don't want a close game because I just don't trust our front 7 to contain Taylor AND MJD.

IMO, Harrison spying on Garrard would be the key to that game. Blitz him, rush him into mistakes and when he takes off Rodney levels him.

I will say we need to avoid letting Drew run around like crazy like Addai did.

Still doesn't mean we give a mediocre QB a chance for a big play early. If they get a couple early scores, they can give us all sorts of trouble.

No concerns over our offense but our D makes me a bit squeamish, especially on the tackling side.

After reading about Gerrad's 30+ yd run at fourth and 2 that enabled them to put up the game winning FG, I am sure that our D will be primed up to keep him at bay.

Hopefully none of the players get hurt badly because this promises to be a bruising game.

However, I expect the Jags to be a bit tired after this roller-coaster victory and considering that this is their fourth consecutive road trip, I expect us to coast to an easy W.

Last season this Jags team had to beat the Pats in week 16 to make the Playoffs. They were at home in that game and they got their butts kicked.

If the Titans lose. This same Jags team will have to win in NE at night in the playoffs. Against a 16-0, highest scoring NFL team ever. Against a defense that is better than their own but who isn't facing Moss or Brady, they're facing Garrard, MJD, and Freddie T.

    I don't see the problem.

Yep. Spread offense. No huddle. When the Steelers did that tonight, they had the big fatties on the Jax D-line sucking for oxygen. Hines Ward was eating them alive. No point in trying to run the ball against that defense.

Spread 'em out. Make 'em run.
