    So.....

Unless I'm reading all this wrong...this bill is supposed to appeal to conservatives and or some republicans, yet none support it?

Max Baucus, what the fukc are you doing at work all day?

I think this is where the democrats should simply ignore the republicans and pass a bill that is best for THE PEOPLE.

    This is getting dumb.

    Baucus = FAIL

Actually what your'e saying sounds dumb. In your narrow view of things , you only see a Democratic solution as one that best serves the public. Why is that? Common sense would tell me that them working together, albeit challenging should better serve the will of the people. What's the rush?

Republicans have boasted that they will "kill any attempt at reform". They have boasted at this being "Waterloo"...

where the flunk have you been?

they have tried to work together...and no republicans are on board. So whats the point?

Baucus says he ‘worked hard to get that bipartisan support’ for a bill that has no bipartisan support.

    yeah........

I support this bill in that it's better (less bad) than the other bills. But that's it, I still don't believe in their cost savings.

The only sane way to approach this is to get the cost savings proven first then contemplate how/if those savings should be spent. Without proven cost savings this has no chance to work.

you will only support a bill that proves that in the future it will save money, but without passage will not be able to be proven?

some would call that a viscious circle.

I don't think anything they are currently discussing will save us money down the line. Without the cost of services? I think if they want to reform health care there are plenty of incremental starting points. Ie; standardized costs for services (no more 50$ aspirins), allow insurance companies to compete across state lines, subsidize a major medical plan for those whom can't afford insurance, tort reform and on and on. These guys seem to be caught between placating trial lawyers and the insurance companies.

Its not affordable to Americans. A family of four earning $66,150 will be paying 13% of thier income just for the preimium. Thats 13% does not include deductables of co-payments.

How Much Should Older Americans Pay for Insurance? - Prescriptions Blog - NYTimes.com

    >>Under Senator Baucus’s plan, insurers would be permitted to charge older people five times more for their health insurance premiums than younger people.<<<
This will discourage companies from hiring older workers and prove extremely costly on those aged 50-64.

Most of the savings is supposed to come from waste, fraud and abuse. It's independent of the rest, show the savings then look at the rest.

Funny you should mention a vicious circle, all the government entitlement programs promised savings and efficency. When passed ALL cost more than projected by a factor of 10.

Why would anybody believe this entitlement be ANY different?

The bill is horrible. It's a gimmick bill. Anyone with a pulse knows that any "fee" or "tax" that's imposed inside an industry, will simply be passed on to consumers, with interest. This bill does nothing to thwart the rising cost of care.

Funny thing is RW this bill is more honest than HR 3200.

    Scary isn't it.
