    This per NationalFootball Post:

The National Football Post | Breaking: Scott Signs With Jets

It's apparently a long-term deal, terms not yet disclosed. So much for Baltimore and Scott being close. Good deal for the Jets - despite his big mouth Scott is young and a solid player to pair with David Harris at ILB. Gives the a very strong LB corps across the board, especially if Gholston can come around. Re-unites Rex Ryan and Scott.

While it makes the Jets stronger, I don't care much. I think we will annihilate all comes next year in a take-no-prisoners blitzkrieg after all the frustration of Spygate, the SB loss, Brady's injury, and getting squeezed out of the postseason last year.

Until the Jets get a QB they're a non factor IMO. This helps us in a way as it weakens a team that was ahead of us last year. Baltimore and Tenessee have both taken hits in FA so far and that's not a bad thing thinking big picture (conference) over small picture (division).

Their defense should be top 10 with Scott in there and Ryan as the new coach. Too bad they won't be scoring any points on the other side of the ball.

I was hoping the Pats would go after him. I think this puts the pressure on BB to make a counter move. Obviously we can't break the bank, but we certainly can't stand pat either IMO.

Adam Schefter is saying this as well, saying it will be for about $8M per season.

Apparently the Jets might sign CB Corey Ivy as well, formerly of the Ravens.

I wonder what the Jets plan to do on offense. They have lost Brett Favre, Brandon Moore, Laveranues Cole and Chris Baker, all starters on offense. They then have blown a ton more money on defense.

I know Ryan is a defensive coach and is promising big things for the Jets on that side of the ball, but with no QB, no Coles and the other losses they have suffered, that defense might need to be great.

I guess they're taking the Baltimore approach - that's a tough way to win, though, you need a crazy good defense when your offense absolutely blows.

Oh? Why Not? Pats 11-5 (Playing near rook at QB) Jets 10-6 (Now without a QB).

Nice pun. I don't think we will "stand Pat".

Realistically, I don't think Scott was an option, either in terms of contract or fit. David Harris is more of a SILB with Scott playing WILB; he wouldn't really bring as much with Mayo already in place. He's a bit on the light side for SILB, and it doesn't really fit his playing style. Plus he's a turd. It makes sense for him to stick with the guy who developed him in Rex Ryan.

I think we will move either Thomas or Vrabel inside to team with Mayo and Guyton at ILB. Thomas/Guyton-Mayo or Vrabel/Guyton-Mayo compares quite well with Scott-Harris IMHO. At OLB the Jets have Calvin Pace, Bryan Thomas and Vernon Gholston. Right now we have either Thomas or Vrabel along with Woods, Banta-Cain, and Redd. There could definitely be an upgrade there, either in terms of a FA/trade (Julius Peppers would certainly put an end to any comparison between the two LB corps) or in the draft (Connor Barwin, anyone?). I think we'll be just fine.

We still have a much better DL than the Jets, and our offense runs rings around theirs. The secondary is still the main area of concern for this team.

    Good points.

As for the Jets, their spending spree last season didn't do them much good. They'll have a good defense, but like you say, without a QB, they don't compete. LOL @ them having traded Pennington away to make room for Favre...

Wow, no wonder Scott signed. That's comparable to the money Dansby is getting with the franchise tag from Arizona. I'll take Dansby over Scott in a heartbeat, especially for our team.

Seems like Ryan is planning to emulate the Ravens - build on defense, no offense.

I agree with the earlier comment that in the big picture Tennessee and Baltimore are weaker now, and are much bigger threats than the Jets will ever be.

Luvley! Just luvley!! Isn't it great to see Stupidity in action, at its finest? Rex is proving he is not a Head Coach, really quickly.

I wonder where he will sign as a DC in 2010?:woohoo:

I agree. Right now, they don't even know if they have a servicable starter. They have issues on the right side of their o-line Thomas Jones is at an age where the age wall could hit fast and hard.

I think the Jets are loading up for a run and will fail and will be stuck rebuilding.

Damn. Good signing by the Jets. Was hoping this wouldn't happen. Still, as another poster mentioned, Jets are pretty much a non-entity until they get something at the QB position.

Knowing the Jets its a huge multi-year contract that will kill them in cap space and they won't sign any offensive players xD
