The view on the messiah trip from across the pond not the same fawning view we get from C Matthews and the local lefties.

Lots of good photo ops and they brushed off the rookie and gave him nothing.

Well, he ran on his personal charisma, and he ran on Geo Bush's blunders, and now we get to see what he is make of. So far, not so good. If this continues America may have one more chance to save herself (and the world) in the 2012 elections. If nothing else, the lesson of how much fiery bloated rhetoric does NOT count in the real world will be taught.

So much for "diversity" and allowing "all points of view"....

It is not about diversity, see the pizza conundrum yesterday which started from the Mail and todays thread about Obama pantywaist.. you can search the globe daily and find this stuff.. just because it is there does not mean it has veracity.

Just sit back and watch the news both left and right wing news and it doesn't take you long to figure out that this President is a Kid way in over his head, he loves the strutting around with that serious looking no nonsense mask he wears, he's lost without his teleprompters, he takes them to bed with him, he's surrounded by nasty Bush Hating grinning democrats and Europe loves him, they love him because they know they can sh!t all over him, I don't want a President that "Castro Likes" I want a President that "Dictators Hate".

Barack Hussein Obama is a friggin joke.

PRAY because with Pant Suit Hillary, Auntie Pelosi, Weasel Reid, Windbag Biden, Dracula Emanuel and the Holy Prince Messiah himself running the show this country and it's people are in big trouble.

Believe whatever you want; to many, many people around the world, Obama looked not only weak, but overly fawning toward people who really don't care much about America.

    A few points:

    - Give your nation credit. Some love us, some hate us, but nobody "doesn't care much about America." At the present, every nation and most rogue factions on Earth are fixated on what we do.

    - 1.1 trillion bucks committed to stimulus Through the IMF. The last clause lets allies, especially the French and Germans, save face with their own people. The goal is to get money into the world economy, and the IMF becomes a channel not just for places in the third world, but places like Iceland (bankrupt first world nations.)

    - When you bargain in good faith, you are willing to get some of what you want. So the initial viewpoint is hey, look, everybody loved him and is okay with America again! (for now.) The reactionary spin was "Yeah but he said he wanted a cadillac and he didn't get a cadillac." The truth is, he went in wanting a cadillac and got a volkswagon. Wait, I think my metaphor is dated. He went in saying he wanted a Lexus and got a PT Cruiser. But the point his, he didn't have a PT Cruiser before.

    - When you bargain in bad faith, you can be a big hit with your friends down at the bar, by way of righteous indignation, by opining loudly after eight beers, "I said I wanted the LEXUS goddammit, and they said sorry no Lexus. SORRY?? I said DAMN RIGHT YOU'RE SORRY, and I poured sugar in their gas tanks. HA!!!! That'll show THEM not to give me a Lexus." This was essentially the Bush approach. It did not get him the PT Cruiser. In fact, it got him sugar poured back into our gas tanks. This is some of the cleanup Obama is now engaged in, making the world understand that we are a nation whose behavior can be predicted and influenced based on our own best interest.

    - The zero-sum game of identifying our own best interest as whatever pi$$es off the rest of the world the most has had downright disasterous results.

Where are we now? We are at the point where we must recognize several events:

    - DEREGULATED capitalism is a failure. Capitalism must be regulated, hence the cries of "Socialism!" by the rabid right.

    - In contrast to the cold-war experience, our interests are in common with most nation-states, for the time being, even potential adversaries. The Chinese, for example, are our bank at the moment. They don't want distressed bond debt any more than we want our own bankruptcy. They ARE smart enough, however, to cut their losses (and refuse to buy any more of our debt), and seem ready to do so soon.

    - What no nation wants unless it is forced on them, for all their griping, is the total failure of the world's (still) leading economy.

    - Regardless, we are well on our way to being one of several poles around which the world revolves, as opposed to the single pole which we have been, economically, since the 1940s.

    - Militarily... which is how you guys seem to think to the exclusion of all other aspects of global politics... we are finally reaching an understanding that the wars we fight today are simply never going back to the WWII mass conventional armaments model. We are fighting rogue stateless gangs, and occasionally rogue states dumb enough to support them. One on one in an alley we can do it with both hands and one foot tied behind our backs, to use the street fight metaphor. We are so much more powerful than them that we can kick their ***** by looking at them hard. The trouble is they're sneaky little b1tches, and they don't fight us on the street. They pour sugar in our gas tanks ;)

So our problem (militarily,) and Europe's, and Russia's, and China's, has been how to find the sneaky little b1tches.

Oh don't get me wrong. We still all want to be able to kick each other's ***** in a street fight. But that's not realistically how we actually fight anymore.

This seems to be more about the perception of the right wing media.. than about reality... Faux news & Drudge and the rest of the righties love to make bigger issues than they really are..

Well, I guess he just can't win in your eyes. If he says self critical things about the US, you bash him. But basically, when you so myopically bash OB on his first trip abroad, in essense, YOU are being critical about the US.

In my opinion, Obama's trip was far more successful then any that Bush ever made, in terms of self/US integrity and diplomacy.

For al the BO is a wussy talk does anyone relize (OR Care) that this is the first time in 200 years that an American vessel has been boarded and hostages taken. So ther isn't a precident for what action to take, such as hitting the pirate controled port, or sending a SEAL team out to assualt the life boat.
So no one here can say Reagen did this or Bush did that its unexplored territory. I think the POTUS should should be above talking to pirates.

Exactly. I'd love to hear what these right wing whiners would have Obama do?

"Kill everyone and sort it out later!"

Is he supposed to be on the bull horn in the middle of the ocean with them? Or what? One substantive suggestion would be great, but we know that's not what their aim is.

Oh wait, I forgot, Obama met with Hillary, a woman, outside on a bench! "Obama and Hillary sitting in a tree..." The right really is like a group of spoiled little kids lol.

There was a second boat taken today. Obama still hasn't addressed the issue. Jefferson had no problem figuring out what to do about the Barbary Pirates.

Hell even the French have responded.
