The CEOs are getting nervous that their golden parachutes aren't going to open as far, and the gov is insisting on tighter regulation to ensure that there is enough credit to keep the economy going and that shareholders are protected from absurd rewards to failed executives. Since these executives don't take personal responsibility, it's good that the government is stepping up to the plate.

Also, in the future please don't forget to credit your source:

One of the Fox shows last week had a former mob boss who's now an investor and he said the same thing, when these companies have government money, the government owns them - the former mob boss could relate - so they want to get out ASAP. But the mob (aka Obama administration) won't allow it.

You should send that analogy to Michael Steele.

    From Patters' Link:

The bank balances of the guys running Toyota and Honda's US operations would tend to disagree with that.

Is it not true ? When Mob Boss Obama has government money in, he can do anything. Fire people. Tax at 90%. He is the Mob Boss of the Country.

I don't think good mileage cars are viable while gas prices are low. Maybe they'll go up through the natural process. Maybe the Mob Boss will tax gas enough to get them high. But for the immediate future, which is kind of important to car manufacturers, good gas mileage isn't going to sell cars.

I agree, it's true. The administration's intention is not simply to bail out the banks, but to control the financial systems. After that they'll attempt to control other industries, not necessarily in the same manner. Watch out Walmart, Microsoft, any oil company.

    That's business.

Shareholders have a lot of power. When one or more shareholder have a concentration of power, they get to hand out golden parachutes, place cronies on the board, make deals that benefit their own people, make bad decisions but still get rewarded, etc. So far, we haven't seen Obama acting like a corporate executive. Also, Obama's authority comes from the people who democratically elected him and from Congress that has some degree of control over his actions. Do you think Al Capone was democratically elected and tried to act in the interest of the people?

Obama isn't supposed to be running the business.

I'm not sure he was elected to do this. That's why his approval ratings are going down. You guys used to accuse Bush of over reaching with his power but we've never seen anything like this. Never. How much do you want to bet that Hillary would win an election over Obama right now ?

You're right, he was elected to power. And I'm right that he's abusing it.

I agree. And it's not his job. He's acting like a mob boss, Jimmy Carter, and Hugo Chavez all wrapped into one new designer suit - only more dangerous.

The more you dislike him, the better the job I know he's doing. He is to Chavez as Bush was to Hitler.

I wouldn't get too ****y there dude, Presidents who don't govern from the middle usually end up as one term Presidents.

I don't think you can make that case, at least since the 1930s.

Presidents who governed from outside the center: Roosevelt, JFK/LBJ, Reagan, Bush II.

Presidents who governed from the center: Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Bush I, Clinton.

I don't agree with all your categorizations, I only count from Carter or Regan on, though, as the world and politics has changed so much.

The fact is this has nothing to do with Golden parachutes PAtters. Most Americans would want to banks to give the taxpayers BACK their/our money.
Obama wants to run/ nationalize the banks he WANTS them taking taxpayer money so they are beholden to HIM not the shareholders.

As the mob guy said, if the banks have "Obama's" money - he owns them (figuratively).

The exact opposite is true as well. I wonder if that fact is not lost on you?

Obama is not Chavez and Bush was not Hitler. That was my point.
