Interesting article in the Baltimore Sun, cannot figure out why Jenna is still getting secret service protection?? According to the Secret Service Website the children of former presidents only get protection until they are 16...

Instead of yapping and whailing about Gitmo why wern't the Bush Haters having Tea Partys over the terrible economy.

I can't seem to remember the uproar over the economy that we have today when Bush was in all I can remember was Haliburton, Iraq and Cheney's heart attacks.

Let's start with no vetoes in his first five years of office. That is a Presidential record of 200 years.

So how did that affect the economy exactly?

I'd like to add that vetoes aren't likely to happen when a president has majorities in both houses. It's not often that a president vetoes his own party's passed bills.

He didn't veto any of the pork spending by the pubbies. This was an area where he provided no leadership, no budget leadership.

I would add he was also too afraid of being partisan. He should of screwed Kennedy instead of helping him with the massive expansion of the worthless Dept of Ed when he first took office. He didn't move to free up land for energy development until his last months in office. He push for CRA reform that could have prevented the financial meltdown, instead he backed down when the dems predictably played the race card. The list goes on.

The impact of the Iraq Conflict (or whatever the cute word of the day is) the outflowing of tons of cash with no oversight (see Bremer and his plane of Bills), the idiotic and rampant fraud of the contractors.. all of this devalued the dollar in the world market..

I was asking to see what certain people would say. You don't have to explain to me where he went wrong fiscally. I'd add the prescription drug benefit program as another spending program that was grossly written. I'm all for helping the elderly, but it has to make sense. That program is a pig doused with perfume.

Amen on the F&F issue. He properly raised questions, and then failed to lead when pressed. Had he stuck to his guns on dealing with the mortgage giants 4 years ago, some of this mess would have been prevented, or certainly the damage wouldn't have been as severe. There would have been a housing mess regardless (foreclosures, etc), because the problem already grew roots. Still, he could have limited the damage, and eased the fall. He failed to stick to his guns on that one.

Why have the democrats seemed to have forgotten all about their favorite "blubbering subjects" Iraq & Gitmo, why is there no more sobbing, whailing and hair pulling over these Atrocities (silence since January)......:singing:

Iraq was chimp change compared to entitlements and other projects. What obama has committed to spending in 50 dyas dwarfs all of the spending in Iraq.

Around the time of Obama's inauguration wasn't it announced that Bush would get increased security post-prez because of, well...people didn't like him much to say the least. Maybe that applies to the whole family?

Of all the Bush atrocities, spending isn't the one which immediately pops into my head. Not to say he didn't do his share and more, but that's just not what I personally remember him for. Erosion of our rights and Katrina are the first 2 things I think of when I think of W. The economy was tanking during his admin also, especially towards the end.
