What did Paulson get when he left GS, something like 38 million.. well it looks like it is payback time.. Always thought in issues like this you were supposed to recuse yourselves as this looks like an appearance of inpropriety ( the standard for an ethics violation)...

    last 24 hours deals:
-JAPAN'S SUMITOMO FINANCIAL plans to invest in Goldman Sachs
-Warren Buffett to invest 5 Billion in Goldman Sachs!!

Its becoming pretty clear that Goldman is being set up to be one of the haves versus the have nots.
The strong ones will use their pumped up stock prices to continue to buy the weaks at a slight premium.

Oh, that does it!!!! Paulson wants to save one of the two remaining investment banks -- no longer really an investment bank but rather a "holding company" bank, subject to fine-tooth comb scrutiny by the Fed -- and that's supposed to be now a "crime"?????

    Break out the guillotine!!!

Positively 4th Street. All the way. If this thread were any lamer, it would need a wheel-chair.

Frankly, GJA's info doesn't surprise me... with Paulson trying to push the bailout through superfast and warning that if it's not passed RIGHT NOW THIS INSTANT we're doomed to a social collapse, my eyebrow was raised. I'm wary of ANYONE trying to push doomsday scenarios and sell to people that only their policies will help, but do not want any scrutiny of said policies. This is what makes me skeptical of global warming doomsdayers, terrorism doomsdayers, etc. I understand this is an urgent situation, but I think the Ds and Rs are doing the right thing (for once) by not just shoving this thing through on Paulson's urgings.

Given that GS is one of the few investment banks left, of course they would be a primary beneficiary - along with the overall economy.

Stop with the "just help them" rhetoric BF. If the panic is real and it is in fact too late, then someone's head needs to roll for presenting a plan in the 11th hour.

If you want someone to blame and a head to roll, great. I'm more interested in getting the economy working again and by the vast number of accounts I've heard, this is the best jump start we have.

Leave it to the left to try and politicize every single thing, even the survival of the economy.

    Disgusting.

A completely idiotic response.. but then what does anyone expect, from our favorite expatriot, who gets all the news he needs from CNN international.. some of us live this american life, while some read about it from the sidelines.. and just become sheeple..

The ONLY idiot in this conversation is the one making the claim. And everybody knows it.
