I predicted ~ elsewhere, obviously ~ that 2009's "Sexy" team ~ the Fish ~ would fall on their FACES.

    It was VERY foreseeable.

    ***

NOW...when NOBODY is expecting anything of them...I am here to tell you, my fellow Yankees, that they are STRONG Final Four Contenders!!

    ***

It seems to me that SEISMIC Teams ~ our own Patriots have fielded 2, recently: the 1994-1996 team, and the 2001-2003 team ~ have a STRONG tendency to have that one big Break Out Year...and then to take an HUGE step backward...before Recommencement.

    ***

That's most of my Argument, gents, and I won't insult your intelligence by saying I have much more:

We've all heard the term "Sophmore Slump". It's REAL.

But the REASON behind it...is shrouded in Ignorance and Obscurity.

Simply put: Most players, most coaches, most TEAMS...of POWERFUL Talent and Skill...tend to start off with a BIG step forward...and then...get...CHECKED.

    ***

The FUNDAMENTALLY Great Ones, henceforth, ASSESS the lessons they've been taught by intermediate Failure...and APPLY what they've learned...and Follow Through with renewed and vigorous Excellence.

    ***

THIS...is what I expect of the FISH...from whom ~ Coach Bill I's Step Off NotWithStanding ~ I expect a GIGANTIC leap forward, in Year 3...PRECISELY when NOBODY is expecting much.

*Nolan is an HUGE Wild Card for them: I believe that their D is poised to ROCK!!

They are Final Four Contenders, as I see it...and BIG rivals for the AFC East Crown.

    Nope.

I consider the Fish to be legitimate Final Four contenders, this year and beyond...

And I consider the Jests to be legitimate Final Four contenders, NEXT year and beyond...

    The Bills??

    MEH.

    ***

For MY money, there's only SIX teams in the AFC who ought be taken seriously...but THREE of them are in our division!!

The Dolphins are final four contenders for the AFCE title, but that's about it.

Of course, the linchpin to those 94-96 and 01-03 Patriots teams were an ascending coach/QB combo.

The Dolphins? Who knows right now. I've not seen enough from the Sporano/Henne crew to indicate that they're ready to ascend to the top. It could happen, but on the same note, it could also happen anywhere with a young QB, and the pair could flop.

If Henne becomes great, the Dolphins are a serious contender. If Henne becomes very good, they take a wild card. Until either of those things happen, Miami's an above average team, nothing more.

lolol I like this guy. :grudenism:

I think he's on to something too. Miami is a much better team this year than what they are being given credit for.

They are the real threat in this division.

This thread conjures up bad memories of the Weathervane.

An ex girlfriend loved the place and insisted that we include it on our list of regularly frequented restaurants. First time at the Vane – bad fish – not average bad – but fish fried to the point of cremation bad, second - time cremation redux, and the third time I had their lobster, which had the same consistency as salt water taffy.

I charter this information on my restaurant tracking worksheet and then created a very complex computer simulation; it predicted that our next visit would lead to more bad fish.

I shared my findings with the ex, but she adamantly disagreed with my conclusions. We had a heated argument and I gave her an ultimatum – either we stop frequenting the Weathervane or I was gone.

Which is the basis for my Dolphins prediction: 10 – 6 and a wild card team.

Miami of Ohio will have more wins this season than the Miami Dolphins will.

The Dolphins are the most overrated team in the AFC.

They led the league in max protection last year and it looks like they're going to need to do that again, because their offensive line is worse.

They replaced two of their starting OLBs with 1) a rookie who couldn't get more than 5 sacks a year in the MWC and 2) a situational pass rusher that might struggle being a three down player.

Tony Soprano might easily be one of the worst game management coaches, the stupid mistakes in clutch situations the Dolphins have are unbelievable.

Their secondary besides Vontae Davis still sucks, and they put the corner who was going to start over Sean Smith on IR.

Their defensive line has been destroyed, and they don't have a true 3-4 NT. They are relying on some experimentation by Nolan. The same Nolan whose defense was absolutely trashed down the stretch in Denver.

On offense Henne had a pretty ****y preseason and got in trouble a couple times "locking on" to Marshall. He's just as unproven as Sanchez.

Ricky is only getting older and Ronnie has played pretty bad and is a walking injury waiting to happen.

    Their TEs are nothing special.

And they got rid of Ginn, who was an awful receiver but a beast on special teams.

Don't leave us hanging....what was her choice in the ultimatum? You said she is an ex-gl. So I am thinking she choose the bad fish over you.
