I think a lot of it depends on whether they match the offer for Hutchinson.
I think I heard they did..that is interesting.

well

I would rather have Flutie doing 50yard dropkicks in january, than see Vandersmack with a pats uniform on!

As far as other guys go, i would prefer brown. He has bad weather experience, a good leg, and he can kick in the clutch! I would still prefer AV, but if he's gone then Brown is my choice!

Vanderjagt ? No-thks.

i would like eventually, if we will not re-sign AV, : Edinger or Brown.

Would you believe a guy you never heard of - or an undrafted free agent ??

Sure - because that's where they got AV in the first place.

I'd take Mare for short money (and love his onside kick ability) and there are many other cold weather college guys out there

But for some reason I have a gut feeling that this is a guy who's name you'll see in the NFL in a few years.

Oh, I like Brown too but $2 million per season might be overpaying a bit.

The Seahawks have offered less than half of that.

Put me on the Brown bandwagon too. He was one of two kickers I mentioned when all of this Vinatieri stuff first started. I agree though, we could get him for alot less than $2 million per.

I expect Belichick to draft this kid...3rd best on ESPN chart.
Conner Hughes

Strengths: He is as good as it gets from inside 40 yards. He is quick to strike and gets the ball off quickly with a compact motion. He shows good mechanics on shorter kicks and is very consistent. Gets the ball up high initially and does a great job of avoiding blocked kicks. He is a four-year starter with excellent experience in the ACC. Has five career field goals over 50 yards. Hughes is intelligent and a high character guy.

Bet on Belichick to pick up this guy as the 2nd K he selects.
If he gets him and puts him on the PS it would be worth even a 7th round gamble pick.

Tony Yelk
Strengths: Has a huge leg. Is versatile. Can kickoff, punt and serve as a long-range FG kicker. He gets great hang-time on his punts and kickoffs. He has the leg to kick FG's from beyond 55 yards.

The Gostkowski kid from Memphis is pretty good. He nailed a 50+ yarder in a bowl game this year.

I will take that bet. No way does Belichick spend two draft picks on kickers.
