At Least 7 Dead, 12 Wounded in Shooting at Ft. Hood in Texas - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com

DEVELOPING: A mass shooting at Ft. Hood military base in Texas has left at least 7 dead and 12 wounded and one suspected gunman is on the loose, officials told Fox News.

A massive manhunt was under way for the suspect at large, Fox News confirmed. One person was in custody. The New York Post said that there were two shooters at the Army base massacre.

The attack apparently happened at the base's Soldier Readiness Center. Army officials didn't know whether the victims were civilians or military personnel.

Other media reports said the number of victims remained unclear.

Mutiple gunmen it seems like. That makes this extremely curious. If it were one guy losing his marbles, it'd be just another tragic incident of weak minded lunacy. Where there may be more than one shooter involved, it makes it a potential terror attack of some kind, or certainly a planned ordeal. My heart goes out to those lost of course. Hope they capture the people involved.

What RW said ... condolences to the families and friends of the victims. One supposedly had a high powered sniper rifle ... what a horrible event. There was supposed to be a graduation at that site at 2:00 and the event took place at 1:30.

A defense official speaking on condition of anonymity to the AP says Hasan was a mental health professional — an Army psychologist or psychiatrist.

There are unconfirmed reports that Major Hasan was a convert to Islam and originally from Virginia. He was reportedly scheduled to deploy to either Iraq or Afghanistan and was unhappy about it.

US Army Major Malik Nadal Hasan Identified As Primary Shooter At Fort Hood

It's all speculation at this point - why not wait until things are confirmed before we start burying people under pig farms?

There should be no deployment of Muslims to the Middle East area of the world unless they are in a uniform other tha n USA. This is a stupid policy and one that needs to be reviewed. You cannot expect a Muslim man to favor country over religion, it is way too risky. Keep them in service here inthe USA or in non Muslim countries because they cannot be trusted. Add this to the friendly fire incidents not reported from overseas of Muslim vs infidel violence of our own people. Hopefully the statistics of this are made public for many have been killed, a very many.

    NEWSFLASH

This is not an actual news story...it is just republican fear mongering.

Fu quew Keith Olberman and the rest of the liberal pricks saying and printing blather like this. There is no such thing as fear mongering when dealing with religious Muslim zealots. I am afraid we will never learn.

NYT Coverage: No Mention of Shooter's Seemingly Muslim Faith

Fear of "backlash" trumps journalistic ethics and responsibility. Just the facts, dammit.

This is another datum indicating why two out of three Americans according to Rasmussen don't trust the media.

He was a psychiatrist and a Major, a non combatant... this is a tad strange... he should not have even had a gun??? There may still be more than one involved...

Very strange indeed, 3 volleys of 8-12 shots each from 1 guy and nobody got to him after a few people ... very, very strange. In any case, we need more layers of security here at home because this will get worse as the years go by ... with or without increased security.

SO disturbing on so many levels not the least of which is that Ft. Hood is the largest army base in the world, home to 4 of our country's finest calvary units. All now under lockdown. That's comforting.

    But here's a real mind-blower:
Fort Hood - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I remember Salon doing a series on Fort Hood and it's anti-war sort of "underground" as it were, especially the coffeehouse.

Otherwise I think it's very disturbing that one of our largest military bases has come under lockdown. I find that FAR more disturbing than the names of the shooters.

These were warriors preparing to go to battle, not some college or high school kids who had no idea of what this type of violence is... it does not make sense.

All I can say is that I actually know one of the people who was in the room when the shooting happened. The only thing they cared about at the time was helping the wounded.

NO, it was a bunch of average Americans going to a graduation ceremony that just happens to take place on an Army base. Soilders are more than ready to fight on the battlefield, but when they are surrounded by their families, they are going to do what they have to to protect their families first! Soilders almost NEVER have weapons on them, while on base.

I would caution everyone to wait this one past the period of sensationalism to wait and see what really happened.

I spent 4 years on airbases, the only time I held a firearm was at basic training 2 times to learn how to use it and once to qualify with it. On the base the only people with guns were the MP's and when they were off duty the guns were under lock and key.
