Wow, who would have thought that a leader in the Republican Party would make such a racist comment?

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-09-03-armey_N.htm?loc=interstitialskip

The "Bubba vote" and underlying racism will hurt Democrat Barack Obama in key battleground states such as Ohio and Pennsylvania, former House majority leader Dick Armey said Wednesday.

"The Bubba vote is there and it's very real and it is everywhere," Armey told reporters for USA TODAY and Gannett News Service. "There's an awful lot of people in America, bless their heart, who simply are not emotionally prepared to vote for a black man in this country."

    Having read that, I come to the following concusions;

    a. Mr Armey is an a**h****
    b. There's a lot of a**h****'s out there
    c. A & B are both true

If any of the above is true, this country is not as great as I hoped it would be at this point in the 21st century.

Obviously from his comments, "A" is definately true and Mr Armey is not a good American.

I find it very disappointing that a thread like this...probably one of the most valid and relevant threads this week, has received little or no commentary. Since we ALL so adamantly abhor anything that stinks of racism, why does everyone have so little to say on this important & deeply disturbing topic?

 I thought this was a thread about NEM.

All you had to do was inject the word "Bubba" into a post and NEM would have a ball with it. Bubba's, skinheads, Nascar crowd. This election is downright boring without NEM in here.

I've said nothing sexist about Sarah Palin, and in Democratic Underground have joined that chorus that quickly condemned such language. But, being nonsexist is not the same as pandering. And, how in the world can a party that wants to have the law control a woman's right over her body talk about sexism? That's absurd. Would you support a law telling you what to do with your seed of life? Give me a break.

how about a party that is against a child's right to simply breathe?

Against a citizen's right to work?

Against the people's constitutional right to protect themselves by bearing arms?

How about a party that is anti-democracy,
    by espousing long-discarded Marxist dogma?

Pride goeth before the fall......you'll learn this lesson, once again,in November

All you have done is attack her ability to be a good mother?

Did you evaluate Obama on his ability to be a good father? No you did not.

    That's sexism

Well, I'm glad you know there's a difference. To many republicans think liberal is another name for democrat. Just as I would never assume that you are conservative just because you're a republican.

Thankfully, it all gets back to none of the above is any better than the others, there just different opinions. But you know I do have some liberal views.
