Not that his arrival would be any kind of big news, but he is a warm veteran body with some knowledge of the system.

I don't think Seau is returning. I think he would only come back if he feels he has a legit shot at a title. The 2008 Patriots don't feel like a sure enough shot. I think the team would take him back in a reduced role if Thomas goes to IR if he could pass a physical.

I don't Colvin would be the right fit either. It he can't make the Texans, he's not making the Patriots. There are plenty of other teams that have passed him up (San Diego, Jets, San Fran, Dallas would all have been good system fits). I think he's done. It's sad, but I don't see him playing again.

Hobson looked out of place at ILB in camp and preseason, but he is a natural OLB, maybe he'd be a better fit? At least he'd be an experienced body that can spell Vrabel and Woods. I doubt he'd be worse than Alexander.

Even if Hobson is brought it, he won't be a factor this week. No enough time. Its more likely that Redd will be activated from the PS.

We could also see Alexander get IRed, which would open up a spot for Hobson or whomever.

Hobson is an option, though I think the reason the Jest let him go at OLB is he was slowing down and I'm not sure he's a better back-up at this point then Guyton or bringing Redd up from the Practice Squad. My thoughts on best option, re-sign Seau and rotate Guyton and Woods on the edge to see how things go while Seau is getting his game conditioning back working inside with Mayo and Bru.

I think it's Redd for this week. Assuming they practice on their normal day off, I'm guessing its no pads on Tues, and walk through on Wed. No time for a new guy.

Redd has been with the team since minicamp and has probably been

getting a little better each week. It would be nice to see him get a

    little action before next year.

Honestly I'd be more excited about Redd getting a shot, but I oppose any move of Guyton to the outside. He fits his role at ILB very well and, as a rookie, I would rather watch him grow into the starter's role. We have been deficient at that position since the retirement of Ted Johnson and Roman Phifer and Guyton is the first player I have seen since who seems to be a natural fit there.

I'd love to see Guyton continue to develop at ILB, but he is an option to play OLB and should be considered - hopefully there is a better choice that allows him to keep pressing Bru for playing time. Ideally, Redd has progressed enough to take some reps for Vrabes and Woods - I'd love to see those long arms clogging Lord Favrequad's throwing lanes.

I won't be because, even if he was signed he probably wouldn't be suiting up this week.

It will interesting to see what the Pats do to replace AD. Do they go to a 4-3 more often, they do have enough talented DL to make the switch with Seymour, Wilfork, Warren, Green, Wright and Smith on the active roster. They would probably have to bring in another DL if they were to do that full time, maybe Adams from the PS? I read they are high on him and have been paying him a lot higher total $ figure than minimum for PS.

If they do stick with the 3-4 predominantly who do they move outside? I would leave Mayo, Guyton and Bruschi inside because they have developed a nice rotation there. The only possibilites outside on the roster are Vrabel and Woods and maybe Alexander so the Pats need depth here. Maybe they sign Victor Hobson, whom they released in camp after the ILB experiment didn’t work out with him. He has played most of his career outside and had some solid seasons with the NYJ’s. I don’t think Seau or Colvin are the answer. Maybe they promote Vince Redd from the PS, he did flash some pass rush skills in the preseason but he is still a little green. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I'd rather have John Lynch at OLB than Hobson. I doubt they move Guyton over because he is a rookie and is playing well at ILB. Moving him around will slow his progress and it's not like we are overflowing with great ILBs either.

I see them moving up Redd or just playing more 4-3. We have plenty of good DLinemen.
