    I hope I got a good one.

I just ordered a Creative Zen Vision:M 30 GB MP3 and Video Player.

    Anyone familiar with this one?

How does this compare with the iPod?

Creative is a good brand - slightly cheaper than Ipod, but I do like Ipod flywheel (I have a much older Creative Zen Xtra - 60 GB hard drive - no video screen... their old click wheel works perfectly fine for finding music)

Just ask yourself what you want to use it for. The new Ipods will have a widescreen too but Creative beat them to the punch

I question whether anyone will really be watching a lot of video. If you are planning on using it for music I'd suggest something of an earlier and cheaper generation.

There's a lot of good bargains out there right now for earlier models if music is your thing

Do you need one of those FM transmitter/adapters to play it in your rig?

Mine? No actually because my car has a tape player - a $5 casette adapter going out of the headphone jack works great.

I've also used $8 FM transmitters in cars with no tape player and they work fine too (just as good as the $50 digital ones that some companies sell) - look on ebay to see what they have - but I went elcheapo on both and they are fine

Again - if you really think you'll be watching videos go for it - honestly I do think Apple does a great job with all their features. If you want an mp3 player for music, there's no need for the most cutting edge generation. Plenty of the older Apples are great

My preference in the Zen Xtra was that I wanted a very large hard drive because I save music at a higher bit rate (@160kb/s) making for much larger files and I still wanted room for a few hundred albums and concerts.

The Xtra also just uses a regular laptop hard drive - so should it ever crap out, opening it and replacing it is doable.

The downside of a hard drive instead of flash drive is you really shouldn't be shaking a hard drive around or jogging with it - flash drives have no moving parts but are somewhat limited in how much memory they can have for now.

But since I listen in my car and working out on an eliptical, its not being jostled around much anyway

Awesome player. Easy to configure and maintain. Probably has the best sound quality of them all.

YES!!!! That's what I like to hear!

I did my due diligent search on the best mp3 player for your money.

Most of the votes ended up on this one.

    Hopefully it'll be great.

I mostly want it for songs on the road.

I mean, how can you possibly carry around 2,000+ cd's with you????

I'll bet if we tested you, you wouldnt know the difference.

The headphones make (or break) the sound.

Oh, I have Audio Technica studio quality headphones... so that wouldn't be a problem... I'll prolly need a jack adaptor though.

Where do you get these at????
