Is not the light house /bridge area for standing room only, and the heavy concession consuming crowd. The bridge and what not could probably be left unaffected by adding more seats below.

And lets not forget the impact of the overall fan experience when you add a 1,000 more fans going to the bathroom at 1/2 time, parking, congestion, etc.

The increase in crowd noise is what would sway me as a fan.

Not necessarily wrong. It's just upgrading the facility if you will, bearing in mind some stadiums are built with room for expansion at a later date. I should have expanded on my comment by saying it may make sense if you've got extra revenue in mind. In terms of how it looks I think it's quite unique and I like it the way it is.

    1) Or, the bridge - and its SRO capability - could somehow be raised closer to the same level as the lighthouse, in order to accommodate the construction of more seats. I also agree that the emptiness below the bridge is a waste.

    2) Get used to it if you're going to games at the new stadia in Irving TX or at the Meadowlands.

    3) Adding more seats will increase the crowd noise, but because of those seats' low angle of incline, they are set farther away from the field; this in turn allows the crowd noise to be dissipated at a greater rate before it reaches its intended target. Then again, I'm not an acoustic engineer, so maybe I'm all wet.

I just posted this on another forum, but of course since I'm quoting you, I had to say I heard a rumor from guy who heard a rumor from a friend who is an electrician that he heard from another guy who he works with who he considers a credible source that the Patriots are going to try to add seats to Gilette Stadium in the near future by closing in the open end.

I'm waiting to see if anyone quotes me now, 'cause he will have to say that he heard a rumor from a guy who heard a rumor from a guy who heard a rumor from a friend who is an electrician that he heard from another guy who he works with who he considers a credible source that the Patriots are going to try to add seats to Gilette Stadium in the near future by closing in the open end.

I'm in the investment business and a 2 year recovery of invested capital is very good. Your looking at over 16 million in 10 years on a 5 million investment. Everyday and twice on Sunday

If they put more seats in that place nobody will be able to get to the game on time, let alone find a place to park.

That bridge really sucks. Especially this season. They started putting those metal barricades along the bridge so they could essentially create lanes to go in opposite directions across the bridge. So now at the end of every game, that bridge has become a huge bottleneck point and at times it can take a good 10-15 minutes to get across that stupid thing.

I bet they would actually leave that open and build second and third tier seats.

Wow, I've never seen anyone work harder at rationalizing giving up his season tickets. ;) There's still time to renew, though. The team will still take online renewals through Friday.

Hehe. My season tix are as good as gone.

That bridge really did suck this year though. It was a bottleneck in previous years, but now that they put the stupid barricades up, they essentially cut the capacity of the bridge in half for the sake of the handful of people that go the opposite direction. It's like having an HOV lane that doesn't get used.

How many - incl. SRO - does the Razor hold now?

The area highlighted by Seymour93 looks like it would add only a few hundred more. With that addition, the Razor probably still wouldn't crack the top 1/3 of stadia capacities; though its access/egress probably already is in the bottom 1/3.

Folks, one of the reasons that open space exists in the first place was to allow heavy equipment (like cranes) to enter the field area easily to make the staging of concerts feasible. Stages, etc. need to be constructed for concerts, and the Krafts wanted large vehicles to get into the stadium without trouble.

If they're going to add seats, they're not closing off that field level open spot. It's there for a reason.
