I don't know about anyone else, but I've noticed a steady increase in big pharma commercials since this recession started and I'm sick of them.

From the depressing "depression hurts..." commercial to the correction of the new birth control pill, what is going on? After watching that "depression hurts..." commercial, I REALLY feel depressed and wouldn't mind trying some of that sh1t. ;)

Personally, I don't like the idea of pharma companies even having commercials. Aren't our doctors supposed to be the ones who know what to give their patients? I think it should be illegal for any prescription drug to be advertised to the general public.

    Just my op....

Especially the ones for diseases that are clearly fishing for clients to hop on the backs of people actually suffering from the disease...

That dope wears a wig. I used to call his office and leave messages telling to take that damn thing off. :D I'm not kidding either!

What is it with business owners doing their own commercials? 99% of them suck.

I don't know, but one of my friends dressed up as him for halloween a few years ago and it was pretty funny.

Back onto the topic of the thread, the idea of advertising prescription drugs is absolutely ridiculous. Asking your doctor for a drug because you saw it in a commercial would be a laughable idea in any serious health care system, but we all know they aren't advertising for no reason. In fact, the only two countries in the entire world that allow advertising of prescription drugs are the U.S. and New Zealand.

Its the reason why drug companies do it . People will go in and pester their DR. for a drug they've seen on tv, too often the DR. gives it to them if its appropriate just to shut them up.
If they could only come up with the modern day version of the "Snake Oil" pill, one that cures what aills ya. They'ed make a fourtune.

IMO ED commercials are the worst, I can't believe there are so many Limp Dicks out there...Speaking of limp dicks I wonder if Fog took some Viagra if he would straighten out. :D

I'll save lawyers for another post.

Yup, I'm with on this one, PR. America's drug infatuation is WAY, WAY over the top. Blame it on the Boomer generation (I'm one). We took the "better living through chemistry" mantra of the 60s and went much too far. From the sublime to the ridiculous to the dangerously over-prescribed. How many people die from drug OD's each year???

All genuine champions have SELF control. All real winners have done it WITHOUT drug enhancement. All the shiit that's being foisted onto the public these days, from anti-depression to hard-on enablers to menapausal helpers ..... .... it's way too much.

Just like tobacco and alcohol, ALL drugs need to be removed from public advertising. ALL of 'em. MDs already are under such pressure to push the drugs these huge pharma companies produce and sell at such enormous profits -- with very controversial results, one must add -- we certainly do not need further encouragement from the advertising.

    +1

.... My wife says if I were any straighter, she'd have to call for back-up!!!..............................:nono: ..... (at least I can understand Muslims and Mormons better. :D )

So, I just pace myself. For HER sake. Now THAT'S true sacrificial love.

Aside from all the ED stuff, do not notice all that much of this stuff.. TIVO is a very good friend..

Without regard what does irk me are all the ads on how to beat the IRS, change your structured settlement and how to beat credit card debt.. it is all a lot insane and done in poor form.
