I know they're entertainers, but I've always had a soft spot for Rage Against the Machine and now Audioslave.

Them and System of a Down are two big supporters (Tom Morello and Serj Tankian are the founding members) of the Axis Of Justice, a political group formed for musicians and others to "Fight for social justice."

Tom's awesone, for a musician he has real credibility, having grown up poor and managing to get into and through Harvard. Plus he's just such an kick-ass guitarist.

Two of my favorite modern bands for sure, especially Rage. Have all their music as well as Audioslave.

No Thanks, I'd rather listen to rock to hear about partying, sex and good times. There is already enough things that are political, don't need it in my music, either way. :rocker:

That - and Audioslave is just really... really... ... boring.

We went to a concert a year or so ago - half of us ended up asleep.

I saw them on both of their tours (at the Avalon 3 or 4 years ago and at the Tsongas arena last year) and they were both among my top 10 concert experiences. I guess it just depends on whether you like their music.

Audioslave, or as I call them, Soundgarden Lite, are cool in small doses. I don't really dig their sound but Chris Cornell's (that's his name, right???) poetry has certainly improved with this band (this coming from a soundgarden fan)

Morello should be considered in a class with the Beatles for innovative audio techniques. The stuff he's done with a guitar is wiggidy-whack! He uses the full potential of every pedal and processor and never over-uses any sound (a powerful temptation...)

All that said, Rage is the best political band ever. It's not something I stick on to sing along with when I'm driving, but hearing Zach de la Rocha's pure anger and zeal for things I also believe in gives me goosebumps. It's a bummer to have lost such a voice.

Anyone looking for good political rock should check out Neil Young's latest, Living With War. It ain't no Cripple Creek Ferry, it's a very angry album, but his lyrics are truly beautiful.

Zack has been currently building his solo rap carrier while being arrested several times in south america xD

He played a cool song with DJ shadow - "Can't Kill The Revolution"

He also had a track with DJ Shadow called "March of Death" (about the Iraq war), and worked with Trent Reznor on a few tracks that they say will likely never be released.

I do hope we see a Rage reunion one day.
