Chandler Jones is decent vs the run. Confused.Just run at Chandler Jones.. There will be room..
I wouldn't call Jones terrible against the run by any stretch. Sometimes he's able to knife through and make a play. But on some plays where he has to hold his ground, determine whether the back is hitting the B gap or cutting outside, and stack and shed, he gets driven backwards a little too often. That won't change unless he adds significant weight, IMO, which could diminish his effectiveness as an upfield pass rusher. It is what it is. The Pats will probably give him his fair share of help in the form of a linebacker against the run. I do agree, however, that people should stop making him out to be the worst DE against the run in the league.I don't why people think Jones is so bad against the run. Yes, he sucked early in the season, but who didn't. In his first two years in the league he wasn't bad at all vs. the run. And he did pretty well vs. the run last week.
I chock up a lot of his problems from playing in a position that doesn't fit him and possibly trying to do too much since they were struggling in a lot of areas. Because one of the things that surprised people so much about the guy early in his career was how well he did vs. the run since everyone thought he was just going to be a pass rush specialist.

No! They hit the Pats at the right time the first game. Mayo just went down and the Pats didn't have time to adjust on a short week. Siliga was on IR. Ayers and Branch weren't on the team. This a completely different run defense now. It is one of the best run defenses in the league over the last 6-8 weeks since they played.
If the Jets run the ball like they did last week vs the Titans, we will hardly have to excel to keep their persistent running backs under 200 yards.
