So, I had an idea for a draft prediction thread, and then PATSNUTME started his by asking everyone to choose ONE statement on what they would predict for the upcoming draft.

My idea was to choose ANY 10 statements...apologies if this 'idea' is played out, or if I am stepping on our great moderator's toes in any way.

Here is my 10 statement prediction:

1. We will choose an offensive player by the end of round 2

2. We will choose an offensive player that is NOT an OL position by the end of round 3

3. We will gain a 1st round pick for next year, giving us 2 (once again) for 2012

4. We will address the secondary by the end of the 4th round

5. We will NOT move up in the first round

6. We will take one of either Heyward or Wilkerson as a DE

7. We will draft a QB by the end of round 5

8. OLB will NOT be picked in the first 2 rounds

9. We will add at least ONE pick in rounds 6-7 for 2012

10. There will be a lot of people complaining here Thursday night ;)

--------

IF you are interested, I am curious to see any thoughts or predictions.

Some over lap. Here is my 10 statement predictions:

1. A lot of Pats fans will be complaining here Thursday

2. BB will NOT move up in the first round

3. BB will gain a 1st round pick for 2012

4. BB will choose OLB Aldon Smith in round 1

5. BB will address the OL by the end of the 3rd round

6. BB will choose ILB Mark Herzlich in round 4

7. BB will take one of either OLB Ugo Chinasa or Tom Keiser by the end of round 5

8. BB will NOT draft a QB

9. We will add at least ONE pick in round 7

10. I would like to see Pats sign UDFAs
a. OLB Keith Darbut Baldwin-Wallace
b. OLB Marc Schiechl Colorado School of Mines
c. DE Tom McCarthy Yale

:rocker:

1. We will not trade up in the first round.

2. We will pick an OL by the end of round 2

3. We will select a DE by the end of round 2

4. We will draft a RB by the end of round 3

5. We will make 3 selections in the second round

6. We will draft Allen Bailey

7. We will trade one of our picks to move up at some point in the draft

8. We will acquire at least 2 picks in the top 3 rounds of next year's draft.

9. We will draft a QB

10. We will not draft a player from Florida

I don't necessarily think they'd have to be ALL--Pats related. For instance :

--Aldon Smith will go in the top 20 picks

--Dallas will take JJ Watt

--Cincinnati will take a QB in round 1

etc..

Three or more players invited to the draft will not be drafted Thursday, and at least one will not be drafted until Saturday.

The Pats will not draft an offensive player other than an OL in the first two rounds

The Pats will draft a RB, DB, DL and OL on Saturday

The Pats will end up with at least one additional pick in the 2012 draft

Bill Belichick will make at least one trade that will result in massive second-guessing by both fans and the media

Al Davis will make at least one draft pick that will result in massive second-guessing by both fans and the media

Contrary to popular opinion, the Browns will not take a WR with their first pick

Neither the Bills nor the Bengals will draft a QB in first round, in part because players at other positions tend to cost less

Nobody will get more than three picks correct in the Draft Prediction Contest

Two or more of these predictions will be incorrect

1. they will trade up for Cam Jordon
2. they will trade up for Aldon Smith
3. they will trade down at 33 to get back some picks for trading up.
4. they will draft M. Herzlich and be happy for 6 years that they did.
5. they will not trade for Conner Barwin
6. I will get a hole-in-one during my annual pre-draft round of golf (may have to be moved to day 2:mad:).
7.I won't lock myself in my shed during the 3 days of the draft.
8. That's all I've got.

1, 2, and 3 sound pretty good to me.

So does 4 w/ Herzlich. I'm hoping they take a shot with him.

5--Connon Barwin? Maybe next year ;)

Good luck with the annual round of golf, and enjoy the draft :)

Good point about the possible holding off at QB until round 2 for CIN and BUF.

I do not believe that CLE takes a WR either, I am thinking defense.

No way anyone gets more than 3 right in the annual draft contest, I agree.

1. Cam Newton will be very unhappy when it is all over.

2. The Pats will take more players in the third round than any other.

3. All the talk about the depth in the OL and at DE will cause those players to be drafter earlier, rather than later, as teams will panic that they won't be there later and grab 'em sooner.

4. The Pats will draft both a WR and a RB that drop lower than expected, because of #3 above.

5. The Jets are still smarting from the stubbed toe they got from giving up so much for Ghoulston and their QB, and not wanting to foot the bill for another, will not put their toe back in the trade waters and instead sit still as if they have cement shoes.

6. Daniel Snyder will be upset about another team taking a player he wanted and threaten to take some kind of legal action.

7. Despite the fact that less than 10% of the QB's taken in the first round become solid starters, four of them will be taken then. And one of them might not be Newton.

8. The Pats will take a QB in the sixth round and Brady will find a way to be insulted/motivated by it.

9. Whoever is taken by the Bills will have the hardest time pretending to be happy about it on TV.

10. The fact that very few top 10 picks turn out to be worth the cap space they eat up, the draft media industry will continue to ignore the costs associated with them and act as if any team who doesn't want one of those picks is crazy.

I'll try to keep these to draft day occurrences, and make them at least a little scandalous.

5 Pats

1. The Patriots will NOT acquire a 1st or 2nd in 2012 via draft pick trade.
2. The Patriots will trade up in round 1, and will make at least two picks before the 28th.
3. We'll grab an offensive player in the 1st round.
4. We'll wait on an RB until the 4th round or later.
5. No OLB will be picked in the 1st, but we'll get a future starter in the 2nd.

5 Non-Pats

1. Cleveland will NOT pick a WR at 6, even if Green and Jones are both available.
2. 3 QBs will go in the top 10, and the frenzy will follow sooner than expected.
3. Two OTs will go in the top 15.
4. One of Green and Jones will be acquired in a trade up.
5. No future 1st round picks will be traded.

And of course, The Golden Rule of Patriots' Drafts will stand: Despite my seemingly endless prognostications, BB will totally surprise me and completely exceed my exceptions.

3. We will gain a 1st round pick for next year, giving us 2 (once again) for 2012

Easy. It wouldn't be a Belichick draft unless the above scenario played out. Owning two first round picks and the first pick in the second round affords me to believe this.

1: We will pick someone that will ignite the echos of "who?" across Pats nation.

2: We will pick up an extra first rounder next year & an extra 2nd rounder.

3: We will have more trades than actual picks.
