Yeah I saw it. All questionable calls and missed calls, and no calls went the Colts way Sunday. Its really no big surprise. Thing is the Patriots are so much better than the rest of the teams in the league a few hundred yards of fake penalties shouldn't be enough to stop them.

With just under 3 minutes left to play in the game, Manning hits Wayne for about a 15 yd completion down the left sideline. Its a comeback route and I believe it was Hobbs who gives him a very solid shove out of bounds. Wayne goes flying out, take a few steps, and then lands on the ground.

I could of sworn the ball popped out when he hit the ground. They give him credit for the catch, but this should clearly be ruled "Did not complete the process of a catch" ie holding onto the ball when you hit the ground.

If anyone has this game DVR'd could you please review! :) 99% sure on the time of the game.

    Thanks

The ball broke the plain of the goal line, Touchdown doesn't matter what happens next.....

Nice command of football rules, once the nose of the football touches the plane of the goal line that runs from the front of the stripe all the way up to the dome, the play is over, TD. Faulk landed in the EZ with half his body in and then the ball came loose, wasn't even close.

I thought this might have been about the dead ball foul that should have been called when Colvin was hit after the play and his helmet was knocked off. All those flags yesterday and the officials miss that one.

If you think that was even close to a TD, you know nothing about the rules of the NFL.

Maybe you should watch more than one game before you start questioning the officiating.

One player had completed the catch process and one did not. Had Gonzalez caught the ball at the eigth, leaped into the EZ and then lost the ball - TD. He never had control of the ball at all.

    Sorry, the previous poster misspoke

the football has to cross the plane of the goal line and the reciever has to have clear control of the ball, meaning he makes two steps, and then retain posession. The receiver cannot lose control of the football, whether it is by the ground or by Asante Samuel's stellar performance, outshining the highly touted Bob "I make one play a game and flex for the rest of the day after I do it, until I get beaten badly by Wes Welker for a Touchdown" Sanders

    Control/complete pass vs. non-control/incomplete pass.

Big difference, there. Both calls were absolutely correct.

I remember that play(The Wayne play out of bounds on the sideline) and DVR'd it at the time, he actually rolled over with control and as he got up flipped the ball to the ground, that was a definate catch though live I thought the same thing you did but when I played it back you could see he didn't lose control he flipped it himself after making the catch

In the Faulk TD he RAN it into the EZ, (about 10 yards after he caught it), what I said about the nose of the football touching the goal line is correct, it's a TD. I was absolutely NOT misspeak.

Gonzalez never put his catch away, never completed the catch, therefore, incomplete pass.

Yeah it definitely popped out. He rolled into someone on the sideline, and the ball ends up lying on the other guy's foot.

edit: FWIW I definitely don't see him flipping it.

    #12 Jersey

I remember that play as well. Hobbs immediately was waving off the catch after Wayne went out of bounds as if he bobbled it when he went to the ground. I think they quickly replayed it but I couldn't tell if he dropped it or not. Will have to check again when I get back home. I wondered about it at the time though.

dude. relax. I was being sarcastic. We're on the same team. I know you didn't misspeak, but the Colts troll was making it seem like you did. Chill man, we won yesterday.

Wow that's a long middle name!

I liked Tom "I pose like Derrick Zoolander with farm animals and scream in the face of an old man referee trying to spot the ball for a knell down cuz my feelings were hurt, Dating models is only a beard" Brady, I thought he had a good game. :)

Two questions, why do the refs hate the Pats so much and why would the league allow such poor or outright criminal officiating? Doesn't the league have more to lose by cheating the Pats?

Secondly, do most Pat fans complain this much after a victory or is it just the few I'm reading here. Wow to read these pages the Pats didn't get one call.

Anyway, it was a good game, great comeback by the Pats, I seriously thought it was over. I hope they do meet again in the playoffs and I actually hope its in Foxboro, adds to the drama.

To me, it adds to the greatness of a team when you have an opponent you have to overcome who is close to your equal. I think history judges these teams to be the truely great.
