Using the fairly credible value board from the Fox Sports site http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5449026, I thought I'd do another mock draft...

How about this:

1 - LB Chad Greenway http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/olb/chadgreenway.html
Competition for Beisel on the inside

2 - CB Richard Marshall http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/cb/richardmarshall.html
Elite prospect to line up across from Asante

3 - WR Mike Hass http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/wr/mikehass.html
Our favorite receiver

3 - OC Greg Eslinger http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/c/gregeslinger.html
Dan Koppen insurance

4 - RB Mike Bell http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/rb/mikebell.html
Good sized back with complete game

4 - PR Jeremy Bloom http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/wr/jeremybloom.html
Bloom isn't anywhere on the Fox board... which is ridiculous. I'll take him here to fill for Dwight.

5 - LB Tim McGarigle http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/ilb/timmcgarigle.html
All heart. Think of him as Matt Chatham replacement with great upside

6 - LB Chris Gocong http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/de/chrisgocong.html
Competition for TBC

6 - S Calvin Lowry http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/s/calvinlowry.html
Special teamer and competition in the return game

6 - QB Brett Basanez http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sc...down.com/scoutingreports/fb/garrettmills.html
Another all heart player with skills to play at FB and TE

Okay... I've officially proven that we can't fit this much talent onto the roster at once:

QB Brady, Cassel, Basanez
RB Dillon, Faulk, Pass, Bell
WR Branch, Caldwell, Brown, Hass, Childress, Bloom
TE Graham, Watson, Mills
OT Light, Kaczur, Gorin
OG Neal, Mankins, Hochstein
OC Koppen, Eslinger
NT Wilfork, Wright
DE Seymour, Warren, Green, Hill
OLB Vrabel, Colvin, Banta-Cain, Cogong
ILB Bruschi, Beisel, Greenway, McGarigle, Claridge, Izzo
CB Samuel, Marshall, Warfield, Hobbs, Gay
SS Harrison, Wilson, Hawkins, Sanders, Jones

...given that it means cutting Evans, Mruc, Bethel, Klecko, Davis, Scott, Scott.

Wow, that'd be quite a draft!

The only thing is, I think Davis could stick, though w/ Tebucky back there is some doubt. Also, my gut tells me that if we draft three LBs, and they all look like players, one ends up on IR, unless Izzo goes...or Klecko stays, then two are in limbo.

BOTH Scotts? Unless Guss gets hurt again, I think he's a front-runner for a spot. It also looks like you don't have Mitchell making the team.

This is a problem I'd like to have, though! :rocker:

I'm with you on Gocong, Basanez, Marshall and Hass. I'm not sold on Greenway in the first rd.

I contemplated that listing for some semblance of an ideal draft off their list, since you've started such a thread...

1. I could almost wish to trade down out of it as I look at the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. Manny Lawson for OLB and STs.

2. DE Mike Kudla as the best "elephant" LB candidate and a good ILB prospect.

3. WR Mike Hass and DT Montavius Stanley.

4. WR Willie Reid (PR/KR) and OT Guy Whimper for an athletic Swing Tackle/OG candidate.

5. CB David Pittman.

6. OLB/ILB/STs Chris Gocong, RB Terrence Whitehead, TE/FB Garret Mills.

7. WR Brandon Marshall.

In ADP's five top needs thread, http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/showthread.php?t=34045 I came up with this shopping list:
OT - someone to push Britt for the swing tackle job.
OC/OG - Reserve/Practice Squad/2007 starter
CB - Nickelback/PR/KR/Practice Squad
RB - Practice Squad/PR/KR
LB - 2-3 DE/OLB for Special Teams and 3-4 development
STs - PR/KR, LB/SS
WR - possession receiver to complement Branch, PR/KR

Lawson and Gocong had the two best noses for the ball that I observed in All-Star play. Kudla gets big plugs for his run stopping, and the Huddle report considers him a good LB too.

The three WR options provide a nice mix of capabilities for Dabol and McDaniels to work with.

Whitehead ran well in the Senior Bowl, has good receiving stats, and reportedly blocks fairly well too.

Whimper has played TE and DT at East Carolina, then was moved to OT his senior year. He played well at LT and LG in the Hula Bowl and was very athletic at the Combine. A good candidate to replace Britt on the Practice Squad for an advance degree in OL play.

Pittman will probably wind up on the Practice Squad, which will give him a year of Woicik's training to build him up better.

Stanley is the NT back-up we all wanted and he should be versatile enough to play some DE too.

Mills reportedly was working on his blocking skills to enhance his value, can't complain about that attitude.

I expect Lawson and Gocong to play well on STs and Reid was a good PR.

OC/OG Chris McNeil would be a good UDFA target to fill in my last shopping item.

Love the Pick!

2 - CB Richard Marshall http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/cb/richardmarshall.html

Again, gotta love it

3 - WR Mike Hass http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/wr/mikehass.html
Our favorite receiver
Hate to take a reciever so high, but...good pick again.

3 - OC Greg Eslinger http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/c/gregeslinger.html
Dan Koppen insurance
Here is where I start to differ. Kai Parham goes here.
4 - RB Mike Bell http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/rb/mikebell.html
Good sized back with complete game
Ok, kid looks good.
4 - PR Jeremy Bloom http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/wr/jeremybloom.html
Bloom isn't anywhere on the Fox board... which is ridiculous. I'll take him here to fill for Dwight.
No way, no how we take a punt returner when Rodneys heir apparent is still on the board. Jon Alston goes here.
I haven't searched the later rounds thoroughly enough yet to comment further.

5 - LB Tim McGarigle http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/ilb/timmcgarigle.html
All heart. Think of him as Matt Chatham replacement with great upside

6 - LB Chris Gocong http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/de/chrisgocong.html
Competition for TBC
Do have to say Gocong in the sixth is a steal
6 - S Calvin Lowry http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/s/calvinlowry.html
Special teamer and competition in the return game

6 - QB Brett Basanez http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sc...down.com/scoutingreports/fb/garrettmills.html

Shirtsleeve, I chose McGarigle over Parham. Dealer's choice, but I love Tim's intangibles. On the Fox board, Parham is available in the mid-6th, so taking him in the 3rd or 4th isn't really needed.

I actually took a close look at John Alston. You may be right on this; he looks great. But here's the thing: Harrison, Wilson, Hawkins, Jones, Sanders, Scott, Mitchell already on the roster... all very good, all experienced as starters, six of the seven have started for Belichick, and the other one is a ST ace to boot. We can only fit four or five of them onto the 53-man. Truly, the cut runneth over at the safety spot. If we draft Alston, we cut... Mitchell, Scott and Hawkins? Harrison, Scott and Sanders? However you cut it, that's a lot of talent to send to the street.

If all these guys are still availabe, I'll be shocked. I think Cogong and McGarigle go sooner than what you have. Other than that, I love everything but your first pick (I'd take Bobby Carpenter).

Yeah, I dont like cutting either Scott. Already, I'm not sure how this is going to shake out... but BB likes very competitive TCs, and he's going to have a great one this year.

Carpenter is available at the top if the 2nd, which had me thinking about trade up scenarios to land both Greenway and Carpenter... I'll look into how that might work.

Rook..great picks!!! If the team got 5 of those..it would be great!!!
I really like the Marshall, Hass, McGarigle, Gocong, Lowry, Basanez, Mills picks.....I would think Carpenter instead of Greenaway may be just as solid..and maybe just a preference..wither is fine!!! Eslinger may or may not be there..there are other Cs that can do the job...I am not a big fan of Bell..would rather have Norwood, Moore or even Riggs..even taking one earlier in late 3rd than 4th..Also..not a Bloom guy either. Hester maybe better suited.. But overall, there are many winners in my book there..WOW!!

Yeah, I was looking for Gocong and Parham and couldn't find them on that Fox board. Both projected for the 6th? I thought they'd be gone mid 4th for sure. Saw that after you posted your reply. It would be awesome if they both are available mid 6!

Good effort but.....QB Brady, Cassel, Basanez. I think Basanez goes to IR and then NFLE and they pick up a legit backup QB..Fiedler???? I don't think I feel comfortable with Cassel as #2 just yet....
